I installed SBS2000 on a Dell PE server and connected 5
WinXP client workstations with no problems.

After a few days, because of certain issues, I re-
installed SBS2000 on the server and configured it with the
exacts settings (domain name, IP, users, etc) as the
original installation.

The problem is that only the administrator user name and
someone else can login on the workstations. All other
users can not login.

I'm suspecting that I must reset something on the WinXP
workstations in order for the order users to login.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Marcos Sebastian

Hi Marcos

Its downto SIDs...Have you removed pcs from domain then rejoined ? Be wary
of user profiles though...This will create new desktops.

Marcos,

When you joined the workstation to the first SBS 2000 domain, the SIDS of
each workstation were added to the domain. These unique identifiers
represent the workstations on the domain.

When you reinstalled SBS 2000, even though you may have used the same domain
name, the server has most likely not yet had the workstations SIDS
registered with it, and therefore does not recognize them as part if IT'S
domain.

Solution:

Rejoin the workstations to the domain.

Keep in mind that the profiles for each user should be backed up and
restored using the File and Settings Transfer Wizard. The workstations will
ALSO see this as a new domain, and set up new profiles for each user.
