I have changed the SMTP server that I am using to route mail externally. That
is the only change that I have made, so I changed the name and then changed
the user name and password needed to access this smtp that is provided by my
isp.

Now I cant seem to be be able to send mails through exchange. I have tested
the SMTP server by setting up an account through Outlook and using the Pop3
as the account type. This works fine.

Is there any settings that I have over looked in exchange?

Cheers,

Davieboy

It is quite unusual to have to log on to an SMTP server. *Typically* -
you just put the ISP's SMTP server in as the Smarthost - and away it
goes.

That's actually not true. Earthlink, Verizon, Charter all require =

are you saying the majority of SMTP servers require a logon?

If so, I stand corrected.

In the offline discussion among MVPs many are indicating that Smarthosts =
are now requiring credentials to use their SMTP server...its a pretty =

majority today...it soon will be=20
