That's actually not true. Earthlink, Verizon, Charter all require =
credentials to use their SMTP servers if they don't see you coming from =
an IP on their network...prevents OPEN RELAY

It is quite unusual to have to log on to an SMTP server. *Typically* =
-=20
you just put the ISP's SMTP server in as the Smarthost - and away it=20
goes.
