Hi again to all,

Within the last month I installed a new SBS 2000 server and everything has
gone for the most part good.

Now my users are screaming the LAN is slower than before........

Is there anything I can check on both ends, server, client to try and get to
the bottom of this?

New Dell PowerEdge 600SC P4 2.5,512RAM,Raid 0,36G

Also new Powerconnect Dell switch, new CAT 5 cable ran a couple of years
ago. All workstations have 100M network cards.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

TIA

Bob

Hi Bob!!!

A couple of things to check out:

- Binding order of NICs (internal should be on top)
- Clients DNS must be pointing to the server.

Bob,

I can'f offer much help but I would be interested to know
how you get on with this. I have been getting alot of
advise (see my entry on 25th Oct 2003) from people but am
still struggling with speed. If I get a fix I will let
you know.

Hope this is of some help.

Does the ipconfig/all from the clients show that everything is pointing to
your server-IP?
What OS on the clients?

check DNS and then on server registry IsDomainMaster set to true in both
places. How many users? 512MB is LOW for anything more than 5 users.

You mention two places. I can find:

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM \CurrentControlSet \Services \Browser
\Parameters

But I can't find it anywhere else...
