I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm still having problems with SLOW network performance. The transfer rate TO the server is not TOO bad but the transfer rate FROM the server to a client is terrible. Here are all of the things that have been tried:

1. I've been to the popular site:
http://www.smallbizserver.net/Default.aspx?tabid=98 rebooted several times since and no success. I've even checked the registry keys to verify that "requiresecuritysignatures=0" for both the lanmanserver and lanmanworkstation

2. I've disabled a/v
3. Tested workstation to workstation with file transfers and there are no problems there
4. Connected the server to one workstation on a new switch and still the problem persists

There are no authentication problems to the server and everything else seems to work fine. If someone else has any suggestions that would be appreciated.

Start messin' with the NIC cards and throttle them to half/full duplex
and stuff.

In addition to Susan's suggestion - make sure you have the most recent
drivers for your nics. I just recently had this problem on a new SBS
install, and resolved the issue by replacing the Windows nic driver with the
manufacturer's driver . . .

Just curious ... was the slow file access evident from all workstations, or
just some. And, therefore, did you throttle only specific workstations to
half duplex, or all workstations?

neither resolved the issue so I put it back to the original drivers and 100
full duplex. After talking to Microsoft and installing hotfixes and adding
registry entries we tried changing the nic to 100 half duplex and this
resolved the issue. Apparently 100half has been the fix for several people
out there and it brought our network back to lightening speeds. I asked why
10 half still ran extremely slow and 100 half worked fine and he wasn't sure
why this fix works only that it works.
