failure events, how much will the system slow down? Is there a figure?

What about auditing users accessing certain folders? Because we tried once,
and felt that speed had gone down, so we removed it. Or was it just some
"psychological effect"?

Unless you have other networking issues, or your server is underpowered, =
it wouldn't be any more than a blink

Many folks get a "feeling" that when they ask the server to do more, =
that the server seems to slow down
