We have three computers connected to our SBS network

Computer Name: OS
TOM Win 98
DICK Win2K
HARRY Win XP Pro

Logging onto Tom or Dick as user Peter works fine and the speed of data =
transfer between the workstations and the server is fine.

Log on to Harry as Peter and the speed of data transfer is abysmal. We =
have tried removing AV off the machine in case that was the problem but =
to no avail.

However, if you log onto Harry as the Administrator the speed is as good =
as the other workstations!

If you log onto Harry as a local machine and then connect to server once =
in, the speed is fine.

We have tried the same thing with Harry by using other user accounts and =
the same problem with speed occurs.

This is bizarre! Anybody got any ideas please?

Many thanks

Peter

go to www.smallbizserver.net -- plenty of info on the well know slow XP =
workstations type of issues.

for starters - on your XP switch your NIC card away from 'auto sense' =
and select a fixed speed (100mb/full, or whatever). Also, make sure XP =
TCP/IP DNS setting is pointed to the SBS server's internal IP address. =
Finally, make sure of your binding order on your SBS server (internal =
NIC should be listed first).
