SBS2K
Through Windows Explorer all my users have access to their mailbox on the
"M" drive on the server.
Should this be? I have been told it is not "nice" to Exchange to delete
from the "M" drive. Some users may think it is okay to delete messages or
other data from the "M" drive or maybe all the subfolders from their
mailbox.
What should I do here?

I agree with the responses to your other thread - I don't ever recall an
instance where the M drive appeared on a workstation. There is absolutely
no reason for users or admins to access the M drive for any purpose in SBS -
mailboxes are accessed through Outlook. The M drive was intended to allow
access to Exchange data through the regular file system interface, but there
is no advantage to such access and, as you point out, several possible
disadvantages.

I agree with Stephen that you should consider removing the drive mapping
using the steps in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305145, unless
you're planning to upgrade to SBS 2003 in the immediate future. Exchange
2003 does not expose the M drive in the way 2000 did. Do a good verified
backup before running the script in the KB.

My OE doesn't display Stephen reply so unsure if missing others.

To add to Dave comments, M drive should never be touched. It should be
excluded from virus scans and should never be backed up.

Although I saw no sharing of the "M" dribve in Explorer on the server, it
was shown as shared in the "Shared" folder of the SBS Administrative
Console.
I have stoipped sharing of the "M" drive in "Shares" in the SBS
Administrative Console.
Hopefully this will work or at least not sdscrew anything up. I will run
script if it does not work.
