Completly new to SBS installation.
I have purchased SBS2K which comes with 5 users licences
what i want to know is this.

I have named my server BizNet1.
I have installed DHCP and DNS which is 192.168.16.2 as per
Microsoft recommend in SBS installtion guide docs for
internal network.
Installed Exchange 4.5 & ISA but have a copy of Exchange2k
which i intend to install and upgrade to.
I have a second NIC on the server attached to a BB Modem.
Therefore network looks like this.

Internet > BB Modem > ISA Firewall > switch > Server > Pc's

My Interent connection works fine for users and pc's.

Just a couple of quick questions if i may.

Number 1 - How do i setup the ISA firewall? I installed
during installtion of SBS but i am not sure if i need to
activate it in some way or does it automatically configure
itself?
(Sorry for my ignorance i have only ever used NAV Firewall
before)

Number 2 - How do i setup my SBS to accept e-mails into
exchange and when a user logs onto a PC do they
automatically get their e-mail without the need for
passwords?
Where and how do i setup e-mail user accounts does this
come with the creation of a user and if so how will it
pick up the user@ourcompanymail.com
I do not want to use POP3 mail. I would rather use
Exchange as i intend to setup OWA in the not to distant
future.

Number 3 - If i use a BB Modem to connect to the internet
will i need to alter anything in order to get e-mails
externally, i don't intend using a router.
The IP Address of the Modem is not static it is assigned
every week or so from my ISP.

Any help on any of these issues would be greatly
apprecited.

Jonathon,

Some of your issues are not possible and some other will
make you crazy to be finish.

A. Don't try to use Exchange4.5 then 2k than gives you a
lot of problem.
B. SBS originally come with standard exchang and you can't
use other exchange servers.

1. ISA will install by default and run but you can
configure it

2,3: by the way that you receive dynamic IP address you
can't have Mail server,

2.if you fix your IP problem you will receive
automatically to the server. and just you need to create
users.

Hi Jonathon,

After completion of the sbs portion of the installation, you are presented
with the todo list. If you follow the steps in the list, top to bottom, you
will have your sbs configured.

One of the steps is to run the ICW (internet connection wizard), which will
lead you through the configuration of Exchange and ISA.

Have you found that todo list? Manual configurations are possible, but
there's no advantage in doing anything manually until you have a good
understanding of what it is that the configuration wizards accomplish.

Frustration is a likely result unless you stay with the script. It's
completely acceptable to try a few test installations, fdisk between. It's
completely normal not to get an installation that you actually want to keep
as production until you have made a few trial runs. It's a time investment
up front that will pay big dividends down the road, assuming you may use the
final install for a year, two, or longer.
