Exchange user email permission.
Hi,
Got another quick ? :) After a fresh install everything seems to
work very well except I cennot find where to get permissions on user
mailboxes. Before, if I am not mistaken, it was in the active dir users and
computer under one of the exchange tabs in the user properties but now I
cannot find it. There are no premission buttons other than the send on
behalf. I know I am over looking something as I am still tweaking the new
install but just thought it was kinda wierd because I know it was in there
before. any idea?

Multiple SBS server sharing single Exchange domain mail!
We have a scenario with 3 MS SBS servers. They all collect mail under
the same domain name. Each server has a pop3 mail box setup with the
users alias's pointing at the relevant box.
Each server is setup to control it's own subdomain. When a user send
an email from one site to another is works fine. The problem arises
when a user sends an email to all of the users in the domain. Some are
found locally and delivered ok, some are then sent to the second site
and third site. This is causing replication and NDR,(approx 20,000 in
fact). Tag: Service Packs Tag: 127324
Cannot manage intranet from console
I am running Server 2K3 SBS 180d eval. Setup went well
(after installing drivers for an on-board ethernet
adapter). Two problems:
While clients can view the intranet homepage by
typing "http://companyweb", the Server Management Console
cannot display the intranet. For example,
selecting "Change Name" in the console results in an IE
window titled "The page cannot be displayed".
Second problem: backup consistantly generates an error in
to log reading, "The 'Microsoft Informaiton Store'
retruned 'Error returned form an ESE funcion call (d).
' from call to 'HrESEBackupRead()'. The ESE log has a
critical error reading page mismatch, read operation will
fail with error -1018(0xffffc06).
Any ideas are appreciated.

VPN and H.323 Gatekeeper
I am setting up an SBS Server.
When the server is first booted up all is ok.
About 10 seconds after the first VPN from an external source comes into the
server, the following error is diplayed twice.
Microsoft H.323 Gatekeeper - 21056
An error has been returned by the <WSAJoinLeaf> API. API error code:

unreachable host.
I don't know what it means.
We only want to use the server for file & print sharing and Exchange email

Can I assume that I can ignore this.
Is it only for netmeeting etc.

Problem with logon over a WAN
We have an SBS2000 at our main site plus two other sites over a WAN with
each a local Windows 2000 DC. Each site is configured in the Active
Directory and have their own DNS.
Our problem is with the logon. Sometime the logon will be process by a
specific server, other times it's done by an other one across the WAN.
We would like to have each site process their own logon request.
How do we force logon on a specific server?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Permissions
We have successfully set up a fileserver on our SBS2000
Domain. The fileserver is a member server and we will
open up shares to at least 3 drives on the file server for
Sales, Marketting and Accounts departments.
I have a permissions questions...
I want to enable clients to save to the shares on their PC
(mapped as F, G, H) but they cannot delete files by
mistake. How can I set this security on the fileserver?
For some background info, the drives on the server are
shared...we have a dynamic RAID-5 array called F, G, H.
Under F, for instance, there are subfolders where people
save to. Clients map to the shares on the fileserver
through a SBS Login script.
Please help!

Lock a client running Win 2K Pro after 20 mins
I know that you can set a Group Policy to log off a client

How can you set a lock Windows 2000 Pro policy for say 20

running in the background but it requires the account
password on the domain to open the machine up again.

hosting OWA with ssl on different port
I setup everything for owa to run on an other port (temp. enabled both port
443 & e.g. 1234), but somehow when I browse to the external address with the
normal port (443) everything works, when I try the other address (1234) I
only get a white page with title 'The page cannot be displayed'.
When I use the internal address, both work.
Other fact: I don't have a valid certificate. When I browse internal using
both portnumbers (443 & 1234) or normal external (443) I get a 'warning'.
When using the other port on the external interface, I don't get that
message.

Antivirus for Exchange
We are currently running Norton Antivirus 7.5 corporate edition to protect
our serer and desktops. It is working very well. All desktops are forced to
install the antivirus as part of login script. It doesn't let a user open an
attachment without saving it to disk first at which point it scans it for
viruses.
My questions are:
1. What are the advantages of an Exchange aware A/V over the above setup?
2. What Exchange protection would you recommend?
3. How does this compare with the SMTP filtering through ISA Feature Pack?
4. What are your thoughts on ISA antivirus protection? ie Benefit vs Cost?
My current inclination is to look at the Symantec enterprise products
(MailProtection etc) as I am hoping they will share the same scan engine as
our existing corporate edition.
Another cosideration is content filtering (email & web) which I will have to
address at some point in the future. If I could get that now it would be a
bonus.

Help - VPN's disconnecting
Can anybody help please.
We are setting up SBS and are having problems (I bet that is a surprise).
When we VPN into the server from remote locations we get 'disconnected'

We 'usually' get in ok (why not every time?), but then the laptops seem to
get disconnected (from the VPN only) after varying times of between 2 and 15
minutes.

The issue I am having is ISA appears to work fine ports

to care about it seeing that its working anyway ?

Auto-disconnect failing
I have an SBS2K SP3 server setup with ISA and a dial-up

to disconnect after 1 minute inactivity.
This is failing and the modem is staying connected. It was
working originally and has now stopped for some reason. No
new apps have been loaded and there are no errors in event
viewer.
I have checked for viruses and ad programs and none are
running.
I have applied the blaster and nachi updates in case of
those issues and have tested the server in isolation in
case it was a workstation causing traffic.
WHat I notice is that when the dial-up is monitored using
the systray icon every 30 secs or so there appears to be a
few packets, this must be the server as there were no
workstations running.
My next option is to apply SP4 ( sbs SP1a) and see if that
helps but any other suggestions or known issues would be
helpful.

With reference to the post down below, seeing as Exch2000

scan the emails/database, not the program files themselves

properties on the Remote Computer tab, there is an option "This range of

a certain range, can I setup a subnet/mask to only allow computers from her
IP range? How do I do that? I'm not 100% how subnet and mask relate - I
guess I expected the choice to be more of a range like 24.x.x.x to 24.y.y.y
