Hope all of you SBS2000 users have installed Service Pack
4 by now. User Beware! One hour prior to completion you
may be confronted with the following error: "Must abort
installation because the 'Metabase' could not be found".
Forget about finding anything about this in the Microsoft
Knowledgebase. There new motto is 'Why give away answers
in Knowledgebase when we can charge $150. per incident'.
Someone help a brother out. We must depend on each other!

Did you stop all 3rd party-services? Also IIS, Exchange and SQL? Did you
have the lockdown-tool installed?

Also, make sure that the IUSR and IWAM accounts have not been disabled. If
they are, temporarily re-enable them to allow the service pack to install,
then you can re-disable them.

Actually support is $245, if you are getting it for $150, then you are
getting a deal!
If you purchased the retail version of SBS, then you get two FREE calls to
support.
I have never had a problem installing a service pack on a server, even from
the NT 3.51 days and have installed SP4 on several SBS without any issues.
I restart the server (to get a fresh start), then go into services and stop
EVERY service that can be stopped, not just 3rd party ones. I've praticed
this for almost 10 years now and knock on wood, never had a problem.

Went through this for HOURS with Microsoft critical support!

We had to completely uninstall IIS, install SP4, and then reinstall IIS and
Exchange!

Contact me for advice.

The your netzero email address and the $150 statement regarding microsoft
really says a lot about you......

having said that.....the sp4 install runs some scripts to remove IIS
mappings. It is actually running sp4iis.exe. The reason that the error
pops up for you is *likely* that IIS is not started (are you in safe mode?).
