    - Any help with this would be greatly appreciated Hello Dana. I finally got some information. It looks like the VPN connection is still active when this happens. Also, when it happens, we tried pinging three things: The static ip address of the server - Gives 4 replies with nothing lost The static ip address with 3389 on the end of it - Gives bad parameter The servers local nic address 10.0.0.1 - Gives a loss of data The servername - Gives could not find server xxxxx Any help that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.     - POP3 SBS 2003 I have started the service for POP on my server and have started the default virtual POP3 Server but still can't access it from an email client The connection to the server has failed.     - Exchange e-mail problem Hi all, I posted this earlier under the title badmail which was probably off putting. We are having a problem receiving e-mail fron a specific sender. All e-mails from this sender are coming through to Exchange which then treats them as spam and puts them in the Badmail folder. The sender has no problems sending anywhere else, they are virus free and I cannot figure out why our server is treating them as spam. SBS2k sp1 and e2k sp3 are installed and OWA is utilised.     - Spelling Mistake Hi When setting up an account I made a spelling error on some-one surname. I have since gone and changed the name and dispplay name in Server Console -> Users. But it does not seem to have 'replicated' and still show the old one. (Fortunately surname is not used here for the email address so tha is OK.)     - Backup errors Hi. We are using SBS2000 with a Tandberg Tape backup. It was working fine until last week, when it started giving errors. It start the backup by loading media, but then ejects the tape and puts a msg in windows event log: Event 7 Source tandqic-VRTS The device, \Device\Tape0, has a bad block.     - DCPROMO.EXE, terminal Server, SQL, Exchange We have a SBS2000 server on a network with two non MS servers. It was a default install with the SBS box being a domain controller etc etc. We are moving certain services off of the SBS box for performance benefits etc. The question is, first off, can we use DCPROMO.exe to demote the server to a Standalone server and remove active directory? Am I correct in assuming that exchange does not require Active Directory to function, will SQL still function, and will Terminal Server still function? Terminal Server licensing? etc. We simply want to use as a Terminal Services server, run a SQL database and exchange no directory services. Any issues? Thanks for your assistance.     - Clients with slow Internet in SBS2003 I have a client with a brand new Win SBS2003 "STANDARD" Server connected to DSL. The Internet access run as expected on the server....FAST!...but the clients machines (3 -XP & 1 -ME) have very very slow Internet. The public DNS on the server is set to UUNET's DNS Servers, and the clients point to the Server (192.168.16.2) for DNS. We have manually re-configured DNS's on the clients to the DSL provider's DNS in an effort to resolve, but no change. When we run the Internet-E-Mail wizard, it shows a "Red X" for the Firewall (Is this because it is STANDARD and not PREMIUM). I am running out of ideas. I beleive this is either a DNS issue or a Firewall Issue. Again...the server runs great... it is just the clietns. Access to other network shares runs great. Any suggestions?     - How do I debug HTTP 500 errors? One of the vendors web sites we work with online has suddenly (in the last two weeks) stopped working. We get an HTTP 500 error instead of access to their site to upload files. I talked to their tech support and they won't give me the "top secret" ports they use. The kicker is our satellite office can submit files with no problem. They only have a Watchguard SOHO between them and the internet. Our office has the SBS 2000 server and a Watchguard 1000 to get through. How can I find out what got hammered so I can get this fixed? Many thanks! Bob S.     - Setting up SBS 2000 w/SonicWall Firewall VPN, Need help. Hello All, Thanks again to Marina Roos SBS-MVP for helping me figure out my exchange 2000 dilema. We recently purchased sonicwall firewall SOHO3 10 user w/ 5 VPN connections. Here is scenerio, I'm at home using DSL connection. I install Sonicwalls VPN software, input user, password, IP, etc., and presto! I now have a secure pipe from my home to the sonicwall firewall at work...thats it. I can get to my firewall, woopty doo. What now? How do I get files off of the server? My objective is for regular users, not just admin to be able to access files from home. I'm not looking to do remote desktop, just something like ftp, very simple. I'm not sure what to do or where to start, I've heard that NATing may be a problem because its not incorporated into server2000's TCP/IP stack. I need to see this through. I do have tech support for the Sonicwall firewall, but it seems like they will only help me get from home to the firewall.     - SBS 2003 - RRAS Dial Up problem My first install of an SBS2003 server where they were still using dial-up today! The new HP Server replaced an existing Windows 2000 server and I had to use the original internal PCI Modem in the new server where it worked OK, for the record it's an Aztech 56k PCI Modem. SBS2003 correctly detects it, driver installed etc OK, configure a normal dial-up connection and it connects OK albeit at 32Kbps (remember how slow dial-up was!!) Anyway, run the wizard to connect, input the same credentials etc but it just won't connect, checking in RRAS and I can see it connecting but it never succeeds. Can anyone throw any light on why this would be short of driving over the modem in my car :( I gave up on it today but have to return tomorrow and see if I can pull a rabbit out of the hat so any ideas or suggestions appreciated.     - Folder Redirection Problem Hi all I have set the group policy to redirect all users My Documents folders to //servername/users/username and this has been working fine, making the My Documents folder available offline no problem. Now it has stopped working but only for any new users that I create. It redirects the folder to the correct place but it does not make it available offline and if I try and manually do it, it comes up with errors saying access denied. What has gone wrong???     - Upgrading to new Box. lots of questions I have read the paper on migrating from SBS 2000 to SBS 2003. But I do not have much of a time window to work with we operate here 6 to 7 days a week. I will need to do the migration on a Sunday ( not a big window of time) So my questions are. 1. Can I a hook the new box to two different switches one for the internal NIC and one for the external NIC and then load SBS2003. 2. Can I run the ADMT tool on the old server and export the data to a external drive and then import it to the new one? 3.     - Sync Issues Hi, I have a user connecting their laptop to the LAN via VPN over dial up connection. They are using outlook 2002 and the companies exchange server is Exchange2000. They want to sync the calender etc. in order that when they are on the road they can take their laptop to meetings, update their calender and when they connect back to the network the calender will automatically sync. They would also like other work colleagues to be able to update their calender who are LAN side and have that data synched back the way when they connect via VPN if that makes sense. /*not sure it is without 3rd party SW) I had the user dial into the network today via VPN had them go into tools > Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups then clicked the edit tab and selected all of the checkboxes. Then when prompted that would need an .OAB created clicked ok. This created the .OAB on their laptop. They then rebooted the PC. They can now see the Global address List which they couldn't see before but new items they insert into their calender etc don't seem to show when they log in on the LAN. I logged onto the network using their username and password after they had updated their calender but the updates didn't show. Anyone any ideas how i can achieve my aims?     - Problem with this size of 1 backup in SBS 2003. Any help? Hello The size of 1 backup is always 30GB because there are some mailboxes that have meany mails. (syncronisized). The extern Hard Disc who is used as the backup device, is a Maxtor wit capacity of 70GB. Now i see that SBS takes every night a Backup (just like i configured it). But he creates a new backup near the backup from yesterday. So after 2 days is the backup disc full.. Is there an option for to delete automaticaaly the older backup, before starting the new backup? in the wizard i don't found an option like that...     - Export to PST file Fails SBS2k all running well, just 5 users. Trying to export a user's Exchange mailbox to a PST file on his workstation. Gets to exporting "Sent Items" and then a window appears with the header "Microsoft Outlook." The window contains a yellow exclamation point and the text "Unknown Error".     - Exchange Relay Question, SBS2k Hi All, It seems that I learn something new every day. Today is the day for learning. I noticed that one client's exchange server is on an open relay list and some mail is not deliverable. Lately, some users have not been able to send email from their exchange server to some domains. I checked the settings, comparing against working servers, and noticed that in the System Manager I see: System Manager Default SMTP Virtual Server Access Tab Relay "Only the List below" is selected Shows my Internal NIC 192.168.16.2 (255.255.255.0) Shows my External NIC 192.168.2.2 Both "granted" UNCHECKED is "allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above," (according to MS, this should be checked but according to this newsgroup in certain cases, this should be unchecked for SBS.) The only users allowed to use this server are internal users, within the subnet. For Authentication, "anonymous access" "basic authentication" and "integrated windows authentication" are all checked. The settings for the SMTP connector at their defaults Address Space -Type: SMTP Address: * Cost 1 What is happening is as follows. 1. The user forwards an email he or she already sent out, the email is in their Sent box 2. The email does not arrive at its destination 3. No errors on the server side, I look at the queues and their is no undeliverable mail in the queues 4.     - Logging to the domain vs logging in locally Helping out a new client who has an SBS2K server installed, 9 users. I noticed that all the PCs are logging in locally into their pc, instead of the domain. The person before set this up. The user logs in locally. Example. One pc is called Lopez. Joseph logs into his PC, Lopez. His PC is already a member of the domain. Joseph is a local administrator of his pc. His drives are manually mapped in XP, not via an sbs script. The owner says everything is working but I would like to have every user login into the domain, not locally into their pc. The owner wants everyone to have local administrator privileges. They already do. I prefer them to be power users but such as it is. When the users were logging into the domain, they could not access their pcs via Remote Desktop in XP. Something about interactive login is disabled. I checked each account and saw that interactive logins were allowed, in Terminal Services. I can still login into each pc with remote desktop as administrator. When logged into the PC locally, remote desktop works. What am I missing? Should I leave as is?     - My Documents Redirection I am trying to configure My Documents redirection from Windows XP Pro desktops to Windows 2003 SBServer. The desktop has user profiles for User.local and User on the domain. There are two users in the Documents and Settings but only the local user has a My Documents. The domain user does not have a My Documents on the local client machine. When logged into the domain, My Documents is directed to the directory structure on the server (as per the redirection instructions). When logged into the local box, My documents points to the local machine. When logging off from either user account, the system indicates that it is synchronizing data but the local My Documents is not being synchronized. Are we supposed to be able to sync the local My Documents to the server? The help system indicating that a local cached My Documents is available when working offline. I am getting a 403 error when trying to access my
website.. I have looked through the ISA server settings,
they are all default, my ISP settings are the same as they
always have been, my static ip is set, everything is
working but I cannot access my website. I have tried
resetting the permissions on the actual directory, I have
tried resetting the permissions through IIS, I have reset
my ICW settings, I cant seem to get through to the
server.. What gives? This has happened ever since I setup
VPN on the server.. Anyone have any ideas? My website addy
is www.scottsdaleautobody.com if anyone cares to see the
actual message. Please help! Thank you!
