Howdi all. First off all congratulations on ths being one
of the best resources around.

Problem is. Client has sbs2k with 30 seats fully patched 2
nics and adsl. Works wonderfully. Client wants to set up
win2k server under the current sbs domain. No probs so
far. He wants the new box to host his web site and a bbs
as well. Thats all.

Can it be done? if so i have some questions.
1. The new server joins the domain and uses the sbs isa
server for firewall client, true?. The IIS on the win2k
server box is brought online and permission to acces it is
handled by the sbs isa server..true/false? Will this be
the best way to set up the new box?

Please advise. Thanx in advance.

The above will work but I would go a different route. Put a router in front
of the SBS and put the webserver in the DMZ or forward port 80 to the
webserver. This way you keep your SBS secure.

Ideally you will be able to persuade the client that hosting the domain
himself borders on insanity.

If he still wishes to do so then the next less insane scenario is that the
webserver sits in a DMZ and does not participate in the SBS domain.

but otherwise you seem to be on tack.

Thanx for the reply there Super...
Insane yes i have to agree, since hosting can be done for
like $3.00 US a month.!! I'm with you but some people just
don't want to be told. At least I have convinced him not
to use the sbs box. :-)

Thanx again..

Hey Mariette,
Thanx for the reply and for the fresh idea of using the
router. I should have mentioned that the adsl connect is
through a router anyway, Sorry I forgot to mention that,
its a DSL500 from Dlink. NOT that great a router as it
does not fully support VPN with out open dmz

I will have a good think about your ideas, sounds like it
is way safer that has been touted.

PS. lov your site. You fox you.
Cheers
