Hello,

I have been having trouble getting Exchange server packs
installed on one of my SBS2000 servers. Each time I
attempt to install the SP (be it 1, 2, or 3) it will not
allow me to install. It shows the exchange server, but
says that a exchange server must be present in order to
install the service pack and indeed the exchange server is
present on the local machine????

Thank you,

John

John,

You may have an incomplete registry entry for
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Setup.

I would advise running a /reinstall of Exchange over itself, then try
applying the Exchange service pack at that point.
The /reinstall is selected in the integrated SBS Setup, on the component
selection screen, by placing SBS 2000 into maintainence mode and Exchange
for reinstall, in the action column on the right. I would advise a backup
before running but it should not touch your data or permission settings.

The /reinstall is similar to an inplace installation and it will attempt to
"fill in" any missing portions of the Exchange install.

hmm...

This may sound a little strange, but I do not have
a "reinstall" option for Microsoft Exchange 2000. All I
have is the Install option. However, it is indeed
installed (and currently functional) on the machine...

Thanks,

John
