Hi
My W2KSBS server (all patched up)has crashed twice this
week. BSOD
stop error (0x0000001e, 0x804939cd, 0x00000001,
0x00000007) Address 804939CD at 80400000
The first time it fried the IS, the second time was OK,
but it is very inconvenient and the users are getting
really upset.
I do not get any errors in any logs but a message saying
the time the server shutdown unexpectedly, and that a
dump ws not saved.
I have run some initial H/W diags without result. There
has been no new software lately.
Can anyone suggest a good place to start troublshooting?
Thanks in advance
Harry

Can you get us a bit more information about that STOP error? Which driver is
it complaining about? Do you see someting like KMODE EXCEPTION?
Usually this is hardware or hardware drivers.

Fraid not Marina. The first time it happened I wrote
everything on the screen down (as below). The second time
I could not see the screen, as it is on a KVM switch and
the video never came back.
It did than not specifiy any more that.
Harware should be easier to fix I suppose. I will give it
a exhaustive diag test as soon as everyone has gone home
tonight.
Thanks

Hi Harry,

That was the errors from the second crash.
I have contacted Dell about the battery, and think it has=20
not significance, mainly being used for laptop bettery=20
monitoring.
We did find some single bit errors on some of the ECC=20
memory, but Dell do not think a sigle bit error is enough=20
to crash the server (well not in ECC memort anyway.)
Can you tell me what are the best logging options to turn=20
on to try and glean some more ifnormation if it happens=20
again?
Thanks

Don't know of any other logoptions. The only thing you might try is contact
MS PSS and send them the dumpfile.
