Interactive Logon message
I connect to a work computer remotely using VPN and
remote desktop. When I am finished with the computer I
logoff. When the next person attempts to logon to the
computer locally (not via remote access), they recive an
error message "Your Interactive Logon Privilege Has Been
Disabled". I don't know why they would receive this
error message since they are not connecting remotely. If
the computer is rebooted, the problem goes away and they
can logon successfully.

Outbound VPN Connections
I am using a Small Business 2000 server for my network. When internal
clients try to make outgoing VPN connections they are having problems
when connecting to the same URL. If one user connects to the URL
another one cannot connect to the same URL when another client is
connected to that same URL. Even when the one client disconnects from
that VPN connection it sometimes takes several minutes before the
second user can connect. If I take a client and place them outside of
the firewall multiplie users can connect so I have narrowed it down to
the SB Server. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this?

POP3 Mail Connector for Exchange Backoffice 4.5
Can anybody help, know its not the best, but has to be
done this way for now.
I've installed this on my backoffice 4.5.
I can get my exchange server to pull mail down from a
global pop3 mailbox and in the event log it does this all
correctly, however it doesnt put it in to the individual
Exchange Mailbox, does anybody know of any reason for
this?
Im using 1 global pop box, so im not using the users tab
in the POP3 Mail Connector
This is what im getting in the event log:
NDR Status Code: 400
Error Code: 00000000
SMTP Reply:
SMTP Name: mervyn.edgecombe@xxx-xx.co.uk
SMTP Host: .
Also all the mails that its pulled down are now sitting
in the IN FORWARD folder under \program files\pop3
connector\
Any ideas?
This has been working and we moved office along with
changing ISP, so all ive done is add in the new pop3
account settings and outgoing mail server, outgoing mail
works fine. Tag: ISA Server Tag: 142549

Can this be done, and if so, how?

Pop/SMTP problems
Hi,
I know the pop3-connector isn't the best way to retrieve your mail and
we're planning to switch to smtp soon. But till then I have some big
problems here (SBS 2k):
- people are getting unwanted mails from our server. It seems the pop3-
connector is "sending out" messages again that have a different (domain)
name then ours. The probable result is that people are receiving those
messages twice and complain about it. Is there a way to prevent this?
- one advice I did get was to turn off basic authentication (and
anonymous authentication). This didn't work because no mail was getting
through (I probably must change something at the client-side, too?).
Unfortunately when we came back online the mailserver collected all the
messages at our ISP, but didn't deliver them in the mailboxes (probably
'cause no one was authenticated?). My question: where are those messages?
In a couple of days I hope we have a new mx-record and bSMTP to deliver
mail in a good way. But till then I must use the ol' pop-3-collector in a
safe way and I really want to know what happened to all our mail that
just vanished.
Thanks,

Trend Officescan to Client Server Messaging SMB version
We currently have Officescan SBS ver 5 (Actually 3.54) running on our SBS
2000 server. It is still happily getting updates, but I'm worried about the
phase out of all of the older versions of Officescan for SBS. I'm not sure
what the current situation is with Trend products, but our version didn't
seem to be effected by the required upgrade / patch for version 5 users.
(correct me if I'm wrong on this). I'm thinking I need to upgrade. I
don't want to lose updates on something as critical as virus protection.
I am also in the process of adding a second Windows 2000 server to use as a
file server. I think I also need to upgrade our Trend to get the CSM
version so I can install it on the second file server. I just talked to our
reseller (Insight.Com). They informed me that the Small Medium Business
version of CSM will be available on 12/1/03.
I have about 30 users. It looks like I can get the standard SMB upgrade (25
users) plus a 5 user license pack for around $500. Does anyone know the
differences are between the standard and SMB versions? Should I wait for
the SMB version? Does anyone know the price of it? Will I still be able to
do a cross-grade for it from OfficeScan for SBS? From what I can tell, it
looks like the SMB version includes the Spam-filter instead of it being an
add-on for the standard version.
Thanks,

Single Windows 2003 SBS running Terminal Services in APP MODE?
Very simply put:
Is it possible to configure Windows 2003 SBS (Standard)
for Terminal Services in APPLICATION MODE?
More complex:
Windows Server 2003 (not SBS) that is a DOMAIN CONTROLLER
does not allow Terminal Services in Application Mode (per
the docs). Moreover, Windows Server 2003 SBS is only able
to be a DOMAIN CONTROLLER (per the docs).
MS Reseller support claims that Windows Server 2003 SBS
can be configured for terminal services in application
mode... BUT IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
When asked if they have any docs to backup this claim
they only can reference docs which state that IT IS
RECOMMENDED to add another Windows 2003 Server for
Terminal services..
What is the real answer, and are there any docs that you
can point me to?

Is there a way to change the <ServerStatusReport> to a
valid email address in the configure reports? My ISP is
bouncing this as SPAM because it doesn't contain a valid

Disappearing POP3 email
My POP3 emails get downloaded from my domain host, but they do not show up
in any of the users' mailboxes.
The number of items shown in the mailbox store also do not increase, which
made me think that that SBS was not downloading the email.
I have contacted my domain host, to verify my email settings, and they said
my account was receiving messages fine. I then verified this by using the
webmail
provided by my domainhost, and the inbox was showing messages I have sent
there, but then disappeared after a while. At this point, I figured SBS had
downloaded them, only to see the the number of items have not increased in
the mailbox store on the server, and obviously Outlook shows now new
messagews.
Also, I can send messages to anybody outside and inside my network. Any
suggestions?

I know that Trend seems to be the most recommended AV product here, but I've
been happy for a while with the older version of CA's software. The

By the way, I notice from system tray icon on all the local Microsoft staff

solid endorsement.

SBS 2000 CALs with S/W Assurance for SBS 2003, what SKU?
Hi All,
I have an SBS 2000 server with 25 CALS.
Both the server and the CALS are on software assurance (Upgrade Advantage

I now need to buy another 10 new CALS for SBS 2000.
I want to buy the new CALs with software assurance so that I am entitled to
upgrade the server software and all 35 CALs for no charge when we decide to
move to SBS 2003. I can already see our existing SBS CAL packs have SBS 2003
key codes on open.microsoft.com. I want these new CALs to appear on there
also.
Can anyone point me to the correct SKU code?
I think it is: E76-00206 for 5 CAL licence with software assurance, and
E76-00189 for a 10 CAL floppy disk, but they are priced cheaper than new
CALS for SBS 2003 which doesn't really make sense to me? :-)

VPN between two SBS2000 servers
Hi All
I have a customer that wants to be able to connect from a client on one
SBS2000 network to the server via VPN on another SBS2000 network. I have
configured and set up the server to accept the vpn connection and can
connect via my SBS2000 network and connect to all resources. The client can
connect but can not connect to the resources etc. I am wondering if this is
likely to be a sub net issue. The client is using the same internal range
at both locations 192.168.16.x, the VPN uses 192.168.0.x and I use 10.0.0.x
internally. We are using the same login for testing. Same packet filters
are installed etc.
Is the fact they are using 192.168.16.x at both locations the problem? If
not is there something else I should check on their network? I'm pretty
sure it is set up the same as mine.

SBS2000 and NT4
Hello Everyone,
Need help in configuring the following;
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
We have an NT4 domain setup with Exchange 5.5 SP4
Everything is fine, everything works no problems.
New server is SBS2000, setup from scratch. Everything
seems to work. Only 10 peeps in the office with pst so no
problem I can re-create all the mailboxes. No need to
migrate. On the new server users will have no pst's.
We must keep the old server as it has a FileMaker server
and some accounting stuff. Therefore, how can I
1. move the old server (PDC) in the new domain?
From what I read, no trusts can be setup between old
and new domains.
2. log clients into new domain SBS and give them access
to old FileMaker app?
Any help is much appreciated.

WINS Server IP address is wrong
I have a WINDOWS 2000 domain controller with WINS enabled. All works just fine however I noticed I was getting some IP Spoof alerts from my internet access device. I traced it down to the DC - which for some reason was using the 169.254.x.x Microsoft Private IP address as it's own. This address space is handed out when a DHCP interface comes up but cannot find a DHCP server I believe. Sure enough when I looked on the console and brought up WINS admin interface my DC was presented with that IP address. The DC has 2 NICs - but only one is enabled and plugged in. WINS works - but I want to get this correct.
Can I change that IP address for the WINS server somehow? Is this happening because that second NIC is disabled and that is the NIC it tries to bind to at startup? Tag: ISA Server Tag: 142374

SBS 2003
Hi! We purchased the software assurance when we purchased
SBS 2000. I was wondering how we know when it will be
shipped to us and if there is a web i can go to and check
the status of when it might be release.
Thanks,
