I have a SBS 2000 server, one of my clients running WinXP
Pro, has a lot of problems. I am planning on whipping his
machine out and reloading everything. How can I find out
where his email is, on the server or on his machine? He
cannot lose his email.

Depending on the version of outlook, you can check the data files under
tools email accounts, if it is delivering to mailbox: user name it is being
stored on the server, if it is being delivered to a .pst file it is local.

You can export his email to a pst as a backup, by going to file > export.

It's Microsoft Outlook 2000, and I don't see an account
under tools?
I went into tools and options, but I don't see anything
that tells me where it's delivering to or from?

I think I found what you are referring too. Under tools
and services, I get a properties box and under the
delivery tab it shows the mailbox and users name. So, I
assume that the users info is being stored on the server?

If under deliver new mail to the following location it is set to his user
name, then you are OK.
