Hi all

Does anybody run the Sage accountancy program over a VPN
connection??
I have heard rumours that it is not possible because of
the file locking that happens when you open a sage file
but I wondered if anybody else had encountered this.

Any comments would be appreciated
thanks
Mark

Which one: MAS, BW, PT or what?

For example MAS200 would probably work... but BusinessWork probably won't
(unless you use TS).

BTW/AFAIK-> I'm talking about reliability in terms of using a "slow" link
between the server and the client. VPN clients are, for network purposes,
just like the computer on the next desk... is just the speed of the link
that changes.

It is Sage Line 100 and we are using the Stock Control
and Purchase order Modules also.
When you say TS, you mean Terminal Services??

I'm unfamiliar with that product line... so I can't tell if it would work
over VPN. Usually, when that kind of apps works over slow links they promote
that feature. You can always test it first :-)

Yes... when I say TS = Terminal Server. If your app won't work over VPN and
you can run it under TS... then that might be an option.

Hi,

We have several companies running Sage over Terminal Services. Sage does not
work over a slow VPN link because of the number of files it opens and the
amount of data transferred over the link. There are registry entries that
have to be made in order to get Sage working correctly.
