    - Spam issue Greetings Everyone, My SBS 2000 is setup with a static ip address and a registered domain for my email. I tryed sending an email to a client this morning and recieved a return. Here's what is said. Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Good Morning Kara Sent: 9/18/2003 8:04 AM The following recipient(s) could not be reached: ggentile@tampabay.rr.com on 9/18/2003 8:04 AM The destination system is currently not accepting any messages. Please retry at a later time. If that fails, contact your system administrator. <pappabear.MadisonInformationServices.local #5.3.0 smtp;553 5.3.0 Mail from 66.14.218.107 rejected, see http://spamhaus.org/sbl> My question is how do I check to see if my SMTP Exchange Server on the SBS is being used to send out spam from my server, so I can get myself fixed and removed from any spam block list. Is there a way for me to close any open loops within this system I am not aware of??? I am some what familiar with the Exchange Server and am the only person on it running the email configurations. Please help me. I need to get my SBS off the spam block lists. Otherwise I will not be able to communicate with everyone. Thank you in advance for you time and cooperation.     - contemplating SBS for a small high school greetings, would SBS (2K or 2K3) be a decent choice small high school with 40 total computers, 20 of which are a in a student lab? the available h/w is an older dual processor Dell (P3/700MhZ processors) with 256MB RAM and 20GB (RAID) disk.     - Shared Fax Question. I have noticed that when faxes come in that the Administrator and anyone else with Admin rights can see all the faxes that have come via the Fax Console but a standard user cannot.     - ISA and laptops I suppose this question has already been asked, but I can't find a clear answer in old posts I am istalling a second NIC and ISA on and existing SBS2000 On this network there are some laptops I don't want the users to mess with the settings every time they get on and off the network How do I have to set up ISA?     - SBS and D-LINK 300 ADSL MODEM - HELP!! I have tried every trick in the book to get d-link 300 adsl modem happening here with dual NIC and ISA (SBS Internet connect wizard). I have made all changes to LAT and stuff to no avail. I can ping the modem and it is connected to ISP ok.. Just no traffic through ISA. It says gateway cant find IP address of WEB pages. I have configured D-LINK 500 router ok. Can anyone tell me the difference and what tricks are involved with D-LINK 300 adsl modem with SBS and ISA? Cheers from Aussie!     - TSAdmin connection to SBS via 56K Modem I would like to set-up to TSAdmin connect to my SBS. The office and my home are both in rural areas were there is only 56K dial-up internet access available. The server has two USR V-Everything external modems with one set for fax only and the other set for internet only. Can either of these be shared with dial-in or do I need another one? If sahrable which should I use? I beleive that I'll need to set permissions to allow dial-in on the server, Install the Remote Desktop Client at home and set-up a new connection at home. Does the Remote Desktop Client initialte the dial-up and connection? Is there a link that anyone can provide with a step by step guide to make sure I don't miss anything. On my final install & set-up of the SBS box I has issues with the dial-up connection and internet access that took a while to resolve. The bax has run without any trouble for months now AND I DO NOT WANT TO SCREW-UP MY CONNECTION AGAIN!!! whoops, a bad memory. I was going to try this back in July, but chickened out. I would really benefit from being able to connect to the server like I was sitting at it on occassion after hours, month ends etc. This would save me rather the 30 minute one way drive at least once a week when I would like to check something. If in the same connection I can access my workstation like I am sitting at it that would be a bonus since I could run various reports that take a long time before I leave for the office, they would be done when i get there.     - Copy email to POOP3 account I would be grateful if someone vould give me an insight into how I automatically copy a Client's emails to a POP3 account that they can access when away from the office?     - Help - Server will not log off / reboot / respond to Ctrl + Alt + Del Strange one this, never had it before. Fully patched SP'd and complete SBS2000 install with BENT, and a few GFI products. Our server will not respond to Ctrl + Alt + Del to get the security menu (task manager etc) up, nor will it log off, nor will it reboot or shut down, seems fully functional in all other ways no other probems apparent, nothing odd showing in SBS Admin console server status either Have tried using the shutdown.exe to remotely reboot and locally reboot, count down is reached but nothing happens.     - ISA blocking web access(HTTP) I have recently installed SBS 2000, and am having problems acessing websites. The following message is displayed in the web browser "403 forbidden. The ISA server denies the specified URL (12202)". However, this only happens with HTTP, if it is HTTPS there is no problem.     - CuteFTP & NTLWorld Hi, I'm using CuteFTP to connect to various sites via SBS2000 and ISA with no problems. I'm trying to set up a connection to NTL World for a new site - but can not get a connection. It gets to - Socket connected. Waiting for welcome message... and just sits there until it times out - I have tried different settings etc I have ISA setup for ports 20/21 and have checked the ISA logs for any problems. I can connect to the site using CuteFTP and a Notebook with no problems. Has any one got a connection to NTL working from SBS2000 with ISA installed ?     - Trouble Accessing IIS from the Internet Hi, I have an on-going problem and as such have not found a solution. SBS SP1a, 2 NIC setup (internal and external IP's on seperate NIC's) and I cannot access OWA, TSWEB, ADMIN web, PRINTERS or any other folder in IIS from the internet. I can access the above mentioned on the LAN using internal and external IP addresses (http://server/exchange or http://212.32.58.xxx/exchange), but when I try and connect through the internet I can see in the IE status bar that the page is loading, eventually timing out and displaying 'website cannot be found'. I don't even get prompted to enter a username / password. I have checked ISA and IIS settings as per MS, IIS is listening on the internal network, ISA is configured to pass all incoming requests on port 80 to IIS. I have checked folder permissions in Windows Explorer and IIS snap-in. Authentication is configured as basic and integrated. Any suggestions would be appreciated.     - Portscan alerts from DNS server ip Every now and then I get ISA portscan alerts coming from our isp's dns servers. dns works fine otherwise. Isp's dns is configured as forwarder to dns server on sbsserver. Clients send their queries to sbs box, they get the setting from dhcp, so no client tries to get directly to ips's dns. What is wrong here? Can it be that sometimes the response comes so late that the isa has already closed the dynamic return port?     - SBS 2003 on Compaq Proliant 800 I installed trial software on machine except the software don't recognize my builtin network adapter/controller, modem and my display is limited to 600x800 and not larger size.     - Event ID 30 - 0xc0000010 Hi, We have a Windows 2000 Server (Small Business Edition) and our Event Viewer reports the following error message: "dmio: Harddisk1 write error at block xxxxxxxx: status 0xc0000010 Source:dmio Event ID: 30" The system disk is hardware mirrored (RAID-1), and all disk utilities used (disk management, chkdsk, ...) report no errors at all.     - Did SUS behaviour regarding service packs just change without any warning? Great :-( [Crossposted to SBS groups as a heads-up for the SBS SUS users....] I've just noticed that my local SUS has downloaded the network install of W2k SP4 and WinXP SP1. I'm sure SUS1.0 SP1 said that it wouldn't/couldn't deploy service packs, only hotfixes; yet when I check http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/windowsupdate/sus/susfaq.asp it has been updated (17/Sep/2003) to say that SUS now *does* deploy service packs... Huh? Did I miss something here? Was there a *notice* of any kind that SUS behaviour was going to change? I'm subscribed to the "SUS content notification change" mailing list, yet I didn't receive any messages letting me know this was going to happen. Instead of changing this silently, how about rolling this feature out as a SUS SP2? Can I turn this feature off? I hope so, but I bet you can't. Why? I've got three production servers, at three separate sites, each with SUS but with only an ISDN 64kbit internet internet connection; I guess over the next few days they are each going to swamp the internet connection for hours while they try and download two service packs in full, but on these sites (a) I only have W2k systems, no XPs at all, and (b) all my W2k machines already have SP4.     - DNS cache problem I am trying to resolve an issue with caching. I first noticed the problem when I tried to conduct a recursive test within the dns console. I then looked within the console from the advanced view and noticed that nothing was cached.. no root-servers ..nothing. What do you think could possibly cause this problem. DNS appears to be configured correctly. The only thing that has been done to the server around the time of this problem was the application of the "blaster" patch. Any ideas?     - Citrix Server Publishing and ISA Clients outside ISA can't connect to Citrix server published through ISA. I can Telnet from outside on port 1494 to Citrix server, no problem. I can telnet from Citrix server itself via loopback (as a recommended test from Citrix KB art CTX075552 to verify connectivity). Clients on the inside (behind ISA) have no problems connecting. Using Netmon, I can see the external Telnets to port 1494, but when attempting to connect from full PN client, can't see connection attempt in Netmon. ISA is configured as described in art CTX482629 "How to publish a Citrix Server Behind an ISA FW" These steps are identical to MS KB article on the same subject,. All steps were successfully completed. Packet filters for TCP 1494 and 80 are in place, Protocol Description is configured, ISA server publishing wiz was used to publish Citrix XP server and altaddr was set on Citrix server so that Citrix server has alternate address of external ISA address. PN is configured as required, server address is ISA extrenal, Use Alt Addr for FW is checked, etc. Any other troubleshooting procedures I can try? I have successfully connected to MF servers at other locations (not behind ISA, but behind PIX). Can't figure out what is missing??? This one's driving me nuts because as configured it should work.     - From Workgroup to Domain I am wondering how difficult it would be to convert from a "Workgroup" server to a "Domain" server, and where I might find the documentation I need to accomplish this task. I don't have much experience with this product and can't seem to word the searches correctly in the knowledge base to get the info I need. I have also started searching the "On line manuals" but I am not sure if they were completely installed. The installer of the network was not much for security or documentation, and I am working "slightly" in the dark. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.     - irritating BU exec problem I am using a Ercix VXA1 tape drive BU exec 9. I was having a lot of problems with timeouts due to the media not loading when the scheduled backup was to take place. I notice that when we changed the tape it was not getting recognized in the device area. As an experiment I have been restarting the BU exec services before going home and it has been working fine.     - Strange internal email problem Any suggestions with this problem would be appreciated. I have a situation where one user when sending email to an a single internal recipient fails. To be more precise here is some more info. the sender can send to all other users OK except to one user. The sender can receive from all users no problem. The user that the sender is having problems sending to is not having any problems at all. So for some reason there is a problem with sending to a single user only.     - pop3 email on a client of SBS 2000 how do i setup the client to get its mail from pop accounts??? I dont want the server to manage the email at all. I have run through the ICW and set it up to disable pop & smtp and i've tried also enabling them. either way, i cant get my client computer to recieve email. it used to work, then one day, no longer. it quit working about a day or so before i moved my office.     - XP Client logon slow I am logging on to SBS2k from XP Pro client. Local logons to the XP machine are fast as you would expect. When logging on to the domain, the dialog "Applying your personal settings..." stays for about a minute or so. This is in a test environment on a LAN with 5 users and only the one server.     - DNS problems browsing in 2-NIC + router ADSL configuration I've upgraded an SBS2000 system from dial-up to ADSL. I'm having problems browsing the Internet, which seem to be DNS related. The server configuration is as per 2 NIC, dynamic IP address & router from www.smallbizserver.net. As far as I can tell, I've done the necessary setup: ICW has been run, the ISP's DNS records appear in the forwarders section of the server's DNS system, etc. The internet connection works with a workstation connected directly to the router, but not through the server. It is possible to successfully ping an external IP address from the server or a workstation, but not a domain name. Nothing requiring a domain name works, including browsing.     - SBS 2003 RC1 Install problems Forgive me if this isn't the best place to post this. I cannot find anywhere else this might be applicable. I recently ordered Small Business Server 2003 Release Candidate 1, and it WILL NOT install. I have tried every possible method from a formatted hard drive, to loading XP and then trying to run it from a GUI, running it from an .MSI file... everything. It will go no further than 30% copying files on the blue install screen, and usually not even that far. I tried online support, but I need a PID, which I cannot get as it will not install. Now granted it was free except for $6 in shipping, but it should still install! Has anyone run into anything like this? Any help at all would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!     - 'Read Only" Files Hi all sorry if this is the wrong group to post this, but i have a problem (not a personal one) that I hope somebody on here may have come across, Scenario SBS2K Server fresh install with data transfered from old NT4.4 SBS server. 10 Windows 98 workstations running Office 97 SP2b prior to the transfer of the documents from the old server all users could access all Word/Excel/Access files and save/update the documents. Since the data migration to the new server when they open a document that already exists in the Company folder to update it, they get a 'Read Only' document, when you check the properties of the document it is not read only, I have checked the properties of the company folder and 'all users' have full control over everything in the directory propergated down. a simple fix is to save the document with a new name, but there is over 2GB of data in the company folder so they are not going to be happy about doing that. has anybody come across this before and if so how did you fix it?     - Outlook Global Contacts I would like to find out what the best practice is for maintaining global contacts in Outlook. I have created a "Contacts" orgainizational unit in Active Directory under the "MyBusiness" group. In this container I create all my "Contact" objects. This is were I plan to enter all contact information for external clients that are not users of my network. These contacts are then visible within Outlook under the global address book. The problem I see is that a user cannot maintain these contacts from within Outlook. Even logging on as Administrator, I receive the same message stating the global address book cannot be edited. Is there anyway I can grant a user rights to Add/Delete/Edit these global contacts in Outlook, or can they only be maintained within Small Business Server Administrator? Also, we have about 100 contacts that need to be added to this address book. Is there a way of importing a this data from a text file or Excel Spreadsheet?     - Upgrading to a different box Hello, We currently bought a new server without a server OS on it. More RAM, faster processor, etc. The current server has SBS 2000 with Exchange, SQL, ISA etc. Does anyone know the best way for me to transfer all of the users and groups and the rest of the AD settings to the new server? I would also like to transfer all of the mailboxes and their contents to the new server too. I don't mind installing everything or configuring the other settings for the server. I just want to make sure that the AD settings, user and group settings, and mailboxes are the same. I currently installed Windows 2000 Server (1st part of SBS 2000 installation) on the new system.     - Exchange SP3 Install Problem Greetings I've inherited support of a SBS 2000 server. Whenever I attempt to install Exchange SP3, the install bombs after a few seconds with a fatal error, referring me to the eventlog.txt file for further information, the pertinent bits of which are detailed below. The eventlog error text mentions the Microsoft Search a couple of times. I can confirm that this service is installed and it has been re-installed to try and solve the problem. I have also tried the Exchange SP with the search service both stopped and started, and I have also tried the install after stopping every non-vital service on the server, again with the same results. Exchange is currently at SP1, and the update has been tried with Windows 2000 at firstly SP3 and then SP4, with the same results. A search of the MS Knowledgebase draws a blank, and a search of the newsgroups reveals several people detailing a similar problem, but no solution has ever been posted.     - VPN setup on SBS2000 We recently completed a migration from SBS 4.5 to 2K. We've set up the VPN with the same characteristics as were in place on the former server but once we connect (and the RRS console shows us connected, we get authenticated and get a proper VPN static pool IP) we have no network connectivity to anything; that is I can neither ping IP addresses nor browse by WINS name.     - OU and Computers I have setup a new OU for all the client computers to sit in and get the GPO settings for Windows Update and SUS. I have now come to add software to one of the clients and the SBS console tells me that the client computer does not exist in the domain. And now we discovered that MS RMS does not have any
standard import/export/scheduling functionality, APIs,
etc. for getting data into/from the SQL Server database it
uses. Any suggestions for creating automated, batch-type
extracts from the database?

There's lots of ways to get stuff in and out of SQL Server. What did
you have in mind?
