I want to add a gigabit network card on server. Everything started fine.
Added Intel Card started up and had numerous errors - (bad card likely) I
shut down pulled the card and restarted. Now Netlogon and Exchange do not
start on reboot, I need to start them manually. The gigabit card (now
removed) still shows up in Remote Access Admin. When I reset the onboard
card to 192.168.16.2 warning appears not exact error, I am not at the
server) - Another Card currently not visible has this IP address if it
becomes active you will experience trouble do you want to continue?

I have the server up and running OK but before I do anything else I would
like to get rid of all references to this now non-existent card. Any
suggestions or pointer would be appreciated.

Also, when REPLACING a NIC are there any steps that I should take (disable
or change IP) before shutting down and adding the new card?

you actually have to rip it out of the registry as it remembers all NICs
installed

You need to have the following environment variable set:

DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1

And then open Device Manager, go to View > Show Hidden Devices. The nic
you removed should now show up, and can be uninstalled.

Always uninstall hardware in the OS before removing it (unless it's USB
and will be re-used later), especially nics.
