I have a sbs W2000 system with a 4 disk raid array which
has both my operating system and data. I have outgrown
the present drives and want to replace them with larger
ones. In the process, I want to separate the operating
system to a separate drive that will become part of an
mirrored pair. I have yet to find a way to do this
without removing all disks and doing a complete recovery
from tape --- which I am reluctant to do with my only
operating server. I have tried a number of tricks, none
of which works. The array is a basic system -- it
refuses to become a dynamic disk system. Anyone got
an idea??/

Bob,

If you want to replace your disks anyway...

Then why not just shut the system down (after a complete backup)
Pull the existing disks out and install your new larger setup (whatever it may
entail)
And then perform your disaster recovery scenario?

While not a trivial feat... certainly addresses your concern and will
provide you with disaster recovery experience :)

I assume it is hardware RAID, does the controller support resizing? You can
Ghost it or use server magic and that is your best way that is your best.
