I am attempting to install the Win 2003 Small Business
Edition server over Win2000 server. The installation balks,
saying:

Remove the following Windows components before upgrading:
Windows 2000 Administration Tools

What, specifically, do I need to uninstall, and how? I had
the support\tools utilities installed, but have
uninstalled them. I've removed just about all of the
components of Win 2000

In add/remove programs (not windows components) look carefully through the
list, you will find it.
Windows SBS 2003 is at microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs

You can find help here:

Windows Small Business Server 2003 Release Candidate Release Notes
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/docs/SBSRelNotes_STD.htm

Section just before the end:
=======================================
Remnants of Windows 2000 Administration Tools may block upgrade to
Windows Small Business Server 2003

When upgrading from Windows 2000 Server or Small Business Server 2000
with Service Pack 1, Setup may become blocked because of some entries
left in the registry from a previous Windows 2000 Administration Tools
installation. This can occur even if the Windows 2000 Administration
Tools were uninstalled prior to upgrade.

To unblock Setup

1.. Open the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{B
7298620-EAC6-11D1-8F87-0060082EA63E}

2.. Ensure that there is not a value displayed for Display Name. If
there is, it means that the Windows 2000 Administration Tools were not
successfully uninstalled and that you need to use Add/Remove Programs to
uninstall the tools again.

3.. When the Display Name value no longer exists, delete the following
registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{B
7298620-EAC6-11D1-8F87-0060082EA63E}).

Thatks, all.

I printed out the whitepaper and got my answer. I was
expecting to find it in the windows components, not the
add/remove programs list.
