Hi, after numerous attempts of trying to restore exchange
from back up without sucess, I want to try a different
aproach.
How about I reinstall exchange and set up mailboxes again
from scratch?
can everyone keep same email addresses?
any forseeable snags?
I have managed to restore all system data from back up and
sysem state, but no matter how i try i can not restore
exchange.
any help apreciated

Thanks
Andrew

Hi
I had a similar problem and i found it to be permissions. the old mailboxes
have a different SID ( security id) and the new accounts cannot restore the
mail boxes with different sid's. I can't find the article but i have it
somewhere i will try again on how to fix the problem but from what i
remember you need to add permissions for the new user accounts to the old
mailboxes. Also did you backup both individual mailboxes and the entire
mailstore or just one of them.
