Simply put... I've had my SBS2000 up and working with 25 users (98se and XP)
for over two years. Pretty much trouble free all along. I've never had any
anitvirus running on the server. I belive now is the time with this never
ending worm showing up in our mailboxes. There appears to be noone affected
but we get lots from outside.
My question is... what do I buy and install?

Thanks in advance for recomendations.

I use Norton (without the Exchange filtering) corporate, and it works fine
for my needs. I would recommend the Exchange component though, if I were to
do it again...

Up to this point I have relied on built in protection from Outlook, applying
all MS security updates and strict polices about unknown attachments
remaining unopened and deleted.

I'll look at Trend... as I have seen it talked about often in this
newsgroup, as well as the Symantec products. I really don't want any
degradation in server or exchange performance though, but guess I have no
choice.

If I were buying AV right now for the first time, I'd go with Trend. It's
the consensus, and you'll get awesome support from others in this group who
are in situations similar to your own. However, I'm not buying for the
first time, and I use CA E-Trust Anti-Virus. In addition to a lot of
positive comments I could make about it, there is no noticeable impact on
server or workstation performance, including Exchange. I wouldn't be
surprised if that were true of Trend as well.

I don't disagree about the security in Outlook, but what about Internet
downloads or Usenet? I had a sales rep from a fortune 100 company hit me
with a virus from a diskette that had been infected at a previous sales
call - there are too many opportunites for problems if you don't run good,
constantly updated AV. You really need a centrally managed product that
covers the servers, Exchange, and the desktop computers.

optional SPAM module

www.pandasoftware.com

Easy to set up, runs on the server including exchange and ISA, also sets up
protection on each workstation, updating them automatically. Frequent
updates. Good support. Email warnings available advising latest security
issues tells me of new viruses, patches, etc, before they are common
knowledge.

Hello,

If you use the IMSS (A Trend Micro product) you can set all sorts of
Spam policies. Also Exchange 2003 has spam filters.

Thanks
