Hi there,

I have a client with SBS2K and Exchange 2K setup and the Outlook Client
seems to check itself on opening but then after that it doesn't appear to
check the server itself for new mail rather you have to click send and
recieve. The desktop pc's use Outlook 2000. Is there a way to change this to
auto check (yes Outlook is left open all day).

Also when an email is prepared and an email address is inserted that system
automatically changes it to a blue colour and changes the font size of the
whole email address. How can I stop it from automatically changing things?

Also I want to control the APC Smart UPS 1000 from Windows so that it will
shutdown safely. The bundled software doesn't seem to do it very well. Which
utility should I use that comes with Windows and will it run automatically?

Many thanks for all your help,

Sam.

Hi Sam,

Is Outlook setup in Corporate mode? Go to Control Panel, Email and check the
properties of the profile on the client. Does it only point to the Exchange
server and have the Outlook Addressbook?

APC has the Powerchute software that is able to control the UPS pretty good.
Which version are you using?

Hi Marina,

You are very quick at replying, I will give you 11 out of 10.

Yes it is setup in the corporate mode and just has Exchange Server and
Oulook Address Book.

The PowerChute software is Basic Edition 6.2.2, it seems to expect that the
APC device has an IP address and won't see the device otherwise, or I am I
loading the wrong part?

Also any ideas with the old write an email address in an email and then it
changes colour? how do I stop it?

Thanks Sam.

Hi Sam,

What OS on the client? Does the ipconfig/all show that everything is

For a Smart-UPS, I'd recommend downloading PowerChute Business Edition.
There's a 7.0.2 version that's supposed to be a big improvement over the
previous.

Thanks Marina,

I will check those details later today.

I have found out what I am trying to talk about with the system
automatically changing text for email addresses in Outlook 2000. The feature
is called Links in Messages and the system automatically changes email or web
addresses to a different colour and text style, but I want to know how to
disable this feature. I cannot find anywhere in the program that allows me to
do it, so maybe it is a registry fix?

Many thanks Sam.
