I'm adding a Win2003 Server to my SBS 2000 network as a member server to do
file sharing. I will need to by CALS for this since I assume that the SBS
2000 CALS do not cover Windows 2003 server.

If I purchase the upgrade to SBS 2003, with the corresponding SBS CALs, will
those cover the Win2003 server as well? I have heard speculation that they
do, but nothing definite, and I can't find it on the MS SBS web site.

By the way, interesting Dell pricing: SBS 2003 Standard $399, Windows 2003
Server $799, SBS 2000 $1199. I could save $400 by buying SBS 2003 and
tossing the other apps, but I don't think the existing SBS would like it
much.

That is correct.

I will look if I find the link... but this has been confirmed by MS
personnel (and I could swear that I have seen it somewhere written). In
fact, if I remember correctly in SBS2k3 the CALs cover even Win2k3/2k/NT
servers (something that SBS2k doesn't do).

BTW-> to get upgrade pricing on CALs (2k->2k3) you will have to wait at
least a month.

What I meant was, if I could buy SBS 2003 and dump exchange, etc. I'd be
left with win2003 server for $399 instead of $799. It just seems crazy that
you get the OS and exchange for $400 less than the OS alone. In buying this
server, it seems like I've found quite a bit of weird pricing. In addition
to the OS thing, a gig of ram is $730 installed in the server, but Dell
memory purchased separately from Dell and installed myself is $238.

Thanks for the info, Javier.
