I have SBS 2000 and want to install Project Server 2003
with 5 client licenses.

Do I need to install SQL server first?

How do I setup Project Server 2003?

Thanks

A couple of months ago I integrated Project Server 2003 into an existing
SBS2000 environment.

You can install PS2K3 onto the existing server (or so I was advised),
however because my customer wanted to take advantage of Sharepoint
services for features such as risk management and document sharing, we
decided to add a separate W2K3 Standard server. Yes we could have gone
with an SBS2K3 server but TS is used on the existing SBS server.

SQL is a critical component to Project Server 2003, so yes you will need
to install this on your SBS2K server as part of the installation
process. The OLAP services of SQL are also needed.

The best place I can point you in (the same place I researched before
deployment) is here:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX010857951033.aspx

Specifically look at the documents under the "Planning for your EPM
solution" section. The Config and Planning guide outlines the three
different implementation scenarios - you choose what suits to drive any
additional hardware/software requirements. During the installation I
relied completely on using the Project Server 2003 Installation Guide.
I served its purpose well and the implementation went smoothly.

Just make sure you understand the different licensing options for
Project Professional and the Web Access Client, as their cost
differential is significant.

Good luck.
Paul.
