    - Default Shared folders, Admin Password, Outlook thru TS I am a SBS Newbie and am in the process of setting up a SBS2K server & a Win2000 TS in Application Mode. I have a number of questions re. the setup 1) I want to move the default company & user shared folders from the C-Drive to another drive. I have read the MS article 329640 on moving the folders but some help is required. The C-Drive is 12 GB, using 4 already, D-Drive is 34 GB and has Exchange Server installed on it and an E- Drive of 22 GB. Which would be the better drive to move the shared folders to or not move them at all ? 2) If I do move the folders, I assume the User setup wizard will know the folders have moved and to where and when using the magic disk the folders that appear on the users desktop will be mapped correctly ? 3) When I installed SBS, I used a basic password for the Administrator, but I have not installed any backup, AV software yet and from the postings it seems I should change the Admin password before I start doing any major software installations / continue with the SBS2k setup. Correct ? 4) I am also going to install Office XP on the TS in Applic Server Mode. Do I install Office on the C-Drive or the D-Drive ? Do I store the bespoke Access Database we use, on the D-Drive of the TS or on the SBS2k server ? Do I install any Accounting applications that we use on the TS as well or on the SBS2k server ? 5) Is it better for users to use Outlook thru TS ? or use Outlook from SBS2k server ? I have been told that using the internet thru TS takes quite a lot of bandwidth so best to use IE from the local desktop ? Correct ? 6) If I want to personalise the TS screen for each user, how do I save the settings created for user or is it better to have a default TS session screen ? 7) I have not tried it yet, but when I log onto a TS session am I able to view my specific users folder shortcut on the desktop or do I use my network places to find my folder on the SBS2k server ? For the past 19 years, PNC Advisors has produced a tongue-in-cheek Christmas Price Index based on the current prices for everything the 'True Love' buys in the song The 12 Days of Christmas. The Total Christmas Price Index, representing the combined cost of the goods and services, is up 16 per cent this year, with the price of the swans showing a particularly steep climb. "Unlike 2002, when swans took a significant dive in price, these graceful feathered friends have bounced back to their 2001 level of $US500 a piece, up from $US300 last year, according to the Philadelphia Zoo," the PNC report said. "The four calling birds are also flying high at $US400, more than a 26 per cent increase from last year." PNC has also put together its True Cost of Christmas index, which examines the total cost of all the items in the Christmas carol, including all its repetitions. This year, the 364 items total $US65,264, up from $US54,951. That is a rise of almost 19 per cent, smashing the previous record increase of 8.4 per cent in 1987. Jeff Kleintop, chief investment strategist for PNC Advisors, says the index's trends mirror changes in the wider US economy. "The index reflects the broader trend of productivity growth in the US economy that has driven prices lower on goods while allowing prices for services to rise modestly," Mr Kleintop said in a statement. "Whereas in the mid-1980s the cost of the goods in the song dominated the index, the trend over time has been toward lower goods prices, such as the pear tree and higher prices for skilled labour, such as the pipers," he said. "The abundance of cheap labour in countries such as China have contributed toward increased pressure on US manufacturers to outsource their unskilled labour overseas and evolve toward higher-skilled areas, to maintain profitability. "Unfortunately, the unskilled maids haven't managed an increase in price for their services in many years." Among the goods prices to drop were the five gold rings, down 5.6 per cent, and the pear tree, down 28.6 per cent from last year. The discounts were offset by the dancers, pipers and drummers, who saw big jumps in the cost of their services over 2002. "We have seen a record increase in the 2003 index, possibly indicating that the fears over deflation that we saw last year may begin to recede, as general price levels begin to pick up and the outlook returns to one suggesting the economic recovery may be sustainable," Mr Kleintop said.     - isinteg on Exchange 2000 on SBS We are running SBS2000. We are currently experiencing problems with Brightstor ArcServe2000 for Small Business Server. Out of around 30 mailboxes, around 5 mailboxes are reporting problems - CA Tech Support have asked me to run isinteg to check the mailbxes concerned - and if need be - I need to extract delete and re-import the mailbox. The SBS2000 box is a new one, and I ran Exmerge around 3 weeks ago to merge all the old mailboxes out of an old SBS2000 box and imported it into the new one using the 2- Step procedure. I now need help on this isinteg thing - I have not a clue how it works and how to conduct what I was told on the problematic mailboxes. If someone could kindly help me - this will be appreciated.     - Connecting XP Workstations to SBS 2003 I just finished setting up a Dell server with SBS 2003. I created five computers and 3 users using the SBS wizards. All three users have administrative privileges. The final message from the computer setup session is "... go to http://localservername/ConnectComputer" on each workstation you want to connect I did this on two workstations and got into the SBS 2003 connection wizard. The wizard asks for LoginID and Password. When I enter the required information, I immediately get a message to the effect that " ... the computer list and user list cannot be found on the server ... make sure the network adapters are configured correctly ... So what am I doing wrong? What do I need to do? I did not change any settings from those that shipped with the computers from Dell. I know I have connectivity, but apparently the server will not recognize the workstations Please help. I am desperate (no joke).     - how do I change the domain name Hi, Just installed at SBS 2000 server, we have a domain name, but the cannot receive mail "from outside" We have a domain name i.e company.com. The server is named server01.company.local, and I want to rename the domain to refelct the domain name. I har tried to add a policy to the exchange manager to include @company.com, but that doesn't work.     - VPN problem I am having a problem with the VPN connection(s). It was working fine previous to a Nachi worm attack. During and after the attack I may have mistakenly reset certain config settings trying to diagnose the problem before I realized the worm was active. We rectified the worm situation and I reset our remote access services via the ISA. Right now the remote client acknowledges that the VPN is connected, the server indicates that a port is active. The client cannot access any network resources. The error message of insufficient permission is given ....see administrator. This error is even when top administrator is logged in, remotely. I think that I am missing a basic configuration setting but my schedule only allows part time administration and diagnosing. The VPN was convenient and I would want to get it back up.     - SecureNAT access through ISA - no ping etc Firstly, my apologies for posting in here. There seems to be a lot more activity in here than the ISA groups. I am trying to find out if ISA can be used as a "transparent" NAT router (for want of a better description). I would like to be able to ping, telnet, TS etc. from inside to the Internet (on the external NIC). I realise this is not the best scenario and not something I would neccesarily deploy. I have read several docs on at least being able to ping out. No success at all. I have configured the client as SNAT, ticked the routing box in packet filters and ensured the icmp "allow" packet filters were enabled. The best I can get is ping to resolve a dns name to an ip, nothing more, no ping response. This has me, I have tried on 3 SBS servers now. All of these SBS machines have had ISA running and clients doing there thing normally. I guess the best way to describe the situation I am trying to emulate is that like ICS running on a WinXP workstation with a few workgroup computers accessing the net via it. ICS seems to let just about everything through. Is what I am trying to ask of ISA possible ? If so, I would be extremely greatfull for any advise on how to configure it.     - SBS 2003 Travan Backup I installed SBS 2003 on a server. The tape backup worked for a week and then when it went to overwrite the previous weeks data it failed. We tried many different ideas, deleting, inventory, free, restarting services, etc. Nothing seemed to work properly. Now it just stopping responding if you try to do anything with tape drive. It tries to mount the tape and then it goes quiet with a green blinking light. It seems like a driver problem, but I willing to entertain any suggestions. It's a Seagate STT 3401A drive.     - Disk error Hi I did a regular chkdsk on C: drive and it came up with a "deleting dsnJournal$ entry..." error. Then it spent hours trying to "Recover lost clusters..".     - TS Question Network is SBS 2000. Want to setup a member 2003 Server as TS in app mode. With SBS 2000 and a 2000 Server in member mode the SBS was made the TS License manager. Do I still need to do it that way? I would prefer the 2003 Server ran the TS license server.     - Discussion topic registry edits in KB292822 I see alot of references to this KB when people are doing VPNs... suggesting they do the registry edits. I read this document to be applicable only if a DUN takes place and not VPNs ...????     - CC emails are going out on their own... Sorry if posted before but OE crashed and did search NG but couldn't find it. Have a site that any email containing a CC to a user at the site tries to go out as if relaying. Of course email doesn't go out cos it can't relay. i.e email from someone@somecompany.com to user@company.com cc to anotheruser@anothercompany.com user gets email then administrator gets undeliverable to anotheruser@anothercompany.com sent from someone@somecompany.com...     - Internet connection Problem - need Help Using W2K SBS, I have set up a DSL line/modem with a router (static IP) and disabled DHCP on the router. I have forward ports 80, 25,443. I have setup using ICW. I am able to ping all IP - internal and external. Here is what happens. I can go from one work station to another - logon and get access to the internet. However, when I go back to the same one that I accessed the internet on, I cannot get access. Another problem seems to be popping up - sometimes I can logon at the work station and sometimes I can not?? The router, modem,switch, and NIC cards (all) are displaying activity. The LAT table does not have the external IP in it. I do have IP 127 (that SBS set up) in my settings. Should that be there?? We did have a power loss the other day. Anyone, your thoughts please.     - recovering M drive - exchange failure Hi i restored my c drive using an image because my M drive disappeared somehow and exchange has now stopped working. I have followed the following http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;320202 and have had no success. I have tried to remove and reinstall exchange and no success. It seems to leave crap behind and so i cannot totally uninstall exchange. I cannot get my m drive back. Then i tried to use the ifsdrive script which is meant to put back the m drive and it also did not work. Are there any other MS Exchange switches i can use to help with the recovery? I have used the following so far: /removeorg and /forestprep and /domainprep. I want to try /disasterrecovery but am not sure what it is meant to do. Are there any others? I did have my install and logs set to c drive and my databases (information store) set to d drive. Could this be why i am having so much trouble. I have wasted two days already. Some of the event ID's are 494 (fails with error 1216), 454, 101 (fails with error 3252) and 9518. I need to recover m drive somehow. Please help!!!     - When the main disk fails in a mirror ... help pls I have a sbs2000 with 2 mirrored disks, the main disk is damaged and wont boot up, the mirror copy is intact ( I was trying to install upgraded disks and ghosting the old to new caused bluescreen boot failure!)     - Easy one! Remote Desktop into another domain Hi all, this should be a no-brainer. We support multiple SBS networks, often over TS or RDC from within our SBS network. When I connect through a modem, I just disable the local NIC on the workstation and the server name resolves fine to the remote server (most of our servers are called SERVER and the IP address are always 192.168.16.2). But we have DSL, so we can just VPN in. The problem is, after authentication, when I use RDC or TS, the server name is resolved in the internal network.     - Security questions We have what I'm sure is a unique situation as well as somewhat embarrasing. First, the unique part is that most of our users are on dialup to our SBS rather than on a network cable. Second, when we converted from NT 4 to SBS 2k we had some problems and someone suggested we put everyone in the Domain Admins group to rule out a security issue (I objected but that's another story). Now I have convinced the powers that be that this is a seriously dangerous practice. But when I remove the users from the Domain Admins group and they are only in the Domain Users group it causes all kinds of problems on the laptop they dialin with. When Outlook Express runs it says there are no Identities present and won't allow you to create one. On some computers Microsoft Office programs won't run. Putting the user back in the Domain Admins group fixes the problem (normally). Our problem is complicated by the fact that users are located nation wide rather than in a single office. Does anyone have any suggestions how to safely get the users out of the Domain Admins group with wreaking havoc on their laptop? Thanks.     - Pinging to SBS2000 server I have a test box on my SBS2000 network which initially had just a Win2003 Enterprise Server as a member server of the SBS2000 domain. It works just fine as a file server. And it has DNS installed with the Domain name and the SBS2000 server name defined as aliases. Unfortunately, I can't install SBS2003 over this OS, because it is an Enterprise server. So I cleared three other partitions (used to be SBS4.5) and installed Win2003 Standard Server in that resulting partition. I have installed DNS on the standard partition, gave it the same aliases of OBTS and obts01. I have hosts and lmhosts files. However, I can't ping 10.0.0.2 . I can ping 127.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.111, which is the LAN NIC. What else do I need to do to get this OS into the SBS2000 LAN? Or, should I just bag this step and install SBS2003 over it as it is, and hassle the connection there? Hollis D.     - OWA using SSL Everything was fine intil I recently changed the Outlook Web Access (OWA) to use SSL. I can connect internally but not externally.     - help We are running SBS2000 with around 30 Windows 2000 Pro clients. One client is running a banking software which requires credits to be emailed. The default email program on the machine (IE>Tools>IE>Programs) is set to Outlook2000 - as the client's mailbox is configured to the Exchange Server on the SBS2000. What is happening recently, is that the default email program keeps changing to Outlook Express. How do I hardfix the email program to be Outlook2000 and not (or never) Outlook Express??     - Shared Calendars I've read through past posts on shared calendars but didn't find quite what I was looking for. For starters when we first installed SBS 4.5 4 years ago all users mail was downloaded to their own PST file on their local machine. (all machines backup to an NAS device every night). Using Outlook 2000 User A would share their calendar with User B and C and User A's calendar would show up under User B and C's Folder listing in Outlook. Now we have replaced our old SBS 4.5 server with a new SBS 2000 server. Nothing else has changed except most of the users are now using Outlook XP that came with SBS instead of Outlook 2000. The only way I can see to share calendars is by logging into other users calendars through the system (A task 43 of my 45 users could not reliably complete on a daily basis). I would like to continue to share calendars the old way but am at a loss at how to do this. If we can't share the calendars to others machines, what is the best way to accomplish shared calendars so that users aren't going to have to log into other calendars.     - Help, need an idiots guide for an idiot! I have got to set up VPN tunneling so that a user can access his SBS 2000 server from his home ADSL connection. The SBS 2000 server is connected to the internet by a router hosted by the ISP, it is using a 192.168.254 address. I believe this means that it is not a "internet" ip address. The problem is that I have never set a VPN before. I am hesitent on where to start, what information I will need and the steps to take. I have tons of information, but I think I am suffering from information overload in that it does not give me any starting blocks. I tried to remove and reinstall using add/remove programs but exchange will not completely uninstall.     - Cannot access Win2000 Terminal Server from SB2k Server I have started to setup a Windows 2000 server to use as a Terminal server and installed Terminal Services Licensing on the SBS2000 server but I have not activated the Terminal Licenses yet.     - Urgent! Restoration nightmare! I have a Dell Poweredge Server 2600 with a RAID5 configuration. Originally the system was setup with a C: volume that held the system OS and then a D: volume that held files. Long story short the system wouldnt boot and after a long phone conversation with Microsoft I decided to being the restore process from backup. When I rebuilt the array it setup the system as one drive and then assigned the CD drive D:. I created a new volume and that got assigned E: I'm having a hard time restoring the system store with backup exec. I figure that if I do everything in one shot I wont have a problem when bringing exchange back. I have a saved system state. Does anyone have any advice or direction that they could provide me with? Hi All

I have just installed ISA_SP!_x86_ENU

When the server rebooted it came up with some of the services could not
start.

The firewall service & WNI had stopped & all networked folders were not
accessible.

I have now fixed this problem but when trying to get access to the internet
we get an error on screen stating something about the ISA .

We are running win2K & SBS2K with 2 nic's one is disabled until we get our
DSL

Every thing was fine till I did the install any ideas would be helpful?.
