I had a nice running Small Business Server 2000 system. At=20
least till last Wednesday. The Problem:

When I start the Server, I receive the message that=20
several services couln't be startet. So I go and see! DHCP=20
Server is not startet, DNS neither. There are to many=20
errormessages - so I can just add some.

The point is that after starting the DHCP Service and the=20
DNS Service everything works fine!! But somehow they can't=20
start at the beginning!

The first error in the syslog I get is:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7024
Date: 30.08.2003
Time: 13:15:10
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER
Description:
The Distributed Transaction Coordinator service terminated=20
with service-specific error 3221229627.=20

No idea what the service specific code is!! Looked for it=20
all over the place: No result.

Then soon after the DNS Server can't start:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: DNS
Event Category: None
Event ID: 140
Date: 30.08.2003
Time: 13:15:25
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER
Description:
The DNS server could not initialize the remote procedure=20
call (RPC) service. If it is not running, start the RPC=20
service or reboot the computer. The event data is the=20
error code.=20
Data:
0000: ba 06 00 00 =BA... =20

Then after a while I get several of these errormessages:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: DCOM
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10010
Date: 30.08.2003
Time: 14:21:25
User: SMALLBUSINESS\administrator
Computer: SERVER
Description:
The server {2DA131BA-B63F-11D2-A777-00105AA735A0} did not=20
register with DCOM within the required timeout.=20

and then:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7022
Date: 30.08.2003
Time: 14:51:07
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER
Description:
The COM+ Event System service hung on starting.=20

and right after:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7001
Date: 30.08.2003
Time: 14:51:07
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER
Description:
The System Event Notification service depends on the COM+=20
Event System service which failed to start because of the=20
following error:=20
After starting, the service hung in a start-pending=20
state. =20

Any ideas?! Thanks a lot!

Is there a router that is also doing DHCP? SBS boxes hate that and will
shut down.
