License problem won't go away
The product Windows NT Server is out of licenses. Use License Manager
from the Administrative Tools folder for more information on which
users are out of compliance and how many licenses should be purchased.
This is an SBS2000 server with 40 licenses installed. Asside from the
SBS server itself ther are 4 other servers and 4 workstations that
participate in the LAN.
SBS2000 server also has some systems like Trend Server Protect and
Diskkeeper that may be using licenses in the background.
This server has all service packs loaded SBS2000 SP1, Windows 2000 sp4
and all security updates released to date.
In a server that produces very clean log files, this red error is an
annoyance. Does anyone no corrective steps perhaps in the registry so
stop the errors from happening? Obviously 40 installed licenses is
extreem overkill to what s really needed.
I've pay for the licenses but can't get the errors to stop.
Much thanks for any knowledge transfer.

SBS2K Print spool location
I have a few clients that are printing to a printer on a different client's
pc.
Why does the SBS2K server spool these files thru C:\temp on the server?
This directory gets quite large at times and now it has over 15 mb with
about 10 days of files.
It does not delete them after they are printed and it won't let me delete
them either, except at certain times. I haven't figured what these times
represent, but it may be related to if the client is logged on.
This client is not connecting thru a share on the server, but straight to
the other clients pc.
How do I move this spool directory to another drive? I can't find any
reference to the spool directory.
Any ideas?

OWA error after installing SP1a
Prior to installing SP1a, I was able to access OWA from a remote office just
fine. But after installing SP1a, I am no longer able to access OWA from
that office. If I terminal serve into the SBS, I can then access OWA. And
even if I am at other location other than the remote office in question I
can get into OWA.
Does anyone know if the installation of SP1a does some changes in OWA.

Suddenly Slow User Profiles on XP clients.
We recently had a raid card failure and had to rebuild the SBS server.
Unfortunately the backup software did not include the system state by
default so we had to manually recover the profiles by telling active
directory users which profile on the client machines to use. this worked
fabulously and most users wouldn't have had a clue the server was ever down.
However, I have 2 Windows XP clients that are still taking from 2 to 4
minutes to log onto the network. It looks like its during the profile load
stage that they seem to be hanging up for a couple of minutes.
Any ideas?
Both clients are on a 100MB switch.
I have checked and both profiles are under 400 MB's. However since the
first synchronization after the server rebuilt we went in and removed the
profile path from the active directory users profile and all other machines
are loading profiles in 10 or 20 seconds. Including my own with a 2.5 gig
profile directory.
Thanks for any help gang.

Well this has been a fun day....
Anyone having a problem with the Sobig.F virus? I found
one pc on our network that was infected, I've removed the
virus from the PC and am still getting a ton of the emails
being being sent to my public folders.
My Virus software (NAV Corp) is picking up and deleting

Any suggestions on clearing all of this up? anyone else

traveling users
Hello All,
I have win2k SBS server providing email for about 20 users. Their internet
connection, to the office where the exchange server lives, is 512k
guaranteed up and down I believe. The clients that have desktops are set up
as exchnage clients via Outlook 2k and XP. The laptop users are set up as
imap clients via outlook because they will be using a dial up connection
most of the time on the road or away from the office.
My problem starts when an imap client's mail box gets over 100mb and then
they start to get time out issues even if they have a high speed connection
at the time. If they delete some mail to get under 100mb then they do not
have a problem. Is this a limitation of the imap protocol or do I have the
client configured wrong?
Thanks,

Renaming User?
I had a user get married and I need to change the last name on her account.
Thought this would be easy. Just right-click the user and choose rename.
Dialog box pops up and I make changes there also. I go through every tab in
ADUC and change it where ever I see the old last name. I go to her user
folder under the share "Users" and change that. Seems that I am done.
I go back into ADUC in less than 1 minute and the email address on the
General tab is back to the old lastname (using first initial lastname) and
on the Email tab, it added the old email address back and set it as primary,
it also has the new lastname email. I change the General tab info and delete
the incorrect email address but it keeps coming back. What am I doing
wrong??

Moved home folders - now problem accessing shares
For about 2 years we have had a Microsoft SBS 2000 server.
All data and shares have been located on this server.
We have also had a member server storing additional
accounts data. The member server is also used as the
Primary DNS server, WINS server and DHCP server.
Recently the member server's disk subsystem's capacity
was substantially increased.
We decided to move home folders from the SBS server to
the member server to alleviate some loading issues on the
SBS server and also to free up some disk space.
This change was made in two places; In Active Directory
Users and Computers, each users' accounts properties were
modified to point the home drive to the member server (H:
\\servername\sharename). Also, Group Policy was modified
to redirect 'My Documents' from the SBS server to the
member server.
After two weeks without problems, I removed the home
folder shares from the SBS server.
When users attempted to log on, some of their login
scripts did not run resulting in no network drives being
mapped. Some login scripts did run without error, but
when an attempt was made to expand a drive "Access is
denied" errors were received.
If I tried to manually map a drive using
\\servername\sharename, the resource was not found. If I
mapped using \\IP_Address\sharename, the resource was
found, but 'Access is denied' errors were returned when
trying to expand the share.
At a command prompt, net view \\servername returned no
shares. I even preloaded the netbios cache using LMHOSTS
but could not map drives using netbios names.
While testing, I configured a client with a static IP
address, and changed the DNS settings.
I eventually recreated empty home share on the SBS server
for each user, which restored functionality. However,
when clients connect via RAS I still get 'Access is
denied.' WINS, DNS, etc are configured via DHCP when the
client connects.
Question 1: Why does\did moving home shares to the member
server cause a problem once the shares were removed from
the SBS server?
Question 2: Why do I still get problems with RRAS clients?

Memory Leak? URGENT help needed
I am running SBS 2000 that has Service Pack 4 installed. On this box I am
running exchange.
Two nights in a row now the server has been non functioning in the morning
when staff arrive. A quick look at the event log and the application log is
full of LDAP 8031 errors and does not seem to be able to comunicate with AD.
When I checked the system log it seemed that earlier errors of 2019 Srv had
consistantly occured stating "The server was unable to allocate from the
system nonpaged pool because the pool was empty. "
Technet indicated that this is a memory leak but is resolved in Service pack
2. Can anyone offer any advice of how I can troubleshoot and resolve this
problem?

Outlook Web Access "The page cannot be found" errors
I've just bought a nice shiny new SBS 2000 server, purely
because it offers OWA. Previously I had stand alone
Outlooks with a freeware mail server running on a 7 year
old NT4 box.
So now I'm able to access my outlook from anywhere. Well
not all of the time, a lot of emails display a "The page
cannot be found" error when I double click the email. I do
a search on MS Knowledgebase and find nothing relevant
under the search terms "Outlook Web Access the page cannot
be found", so I do a google search for the same terms. I
come across several websites telling me that certain
characters are illegal in OWA, which prevents it from
displaying the page.
Now OWA is the only reason I've spent almost three
thousand pounds on new kit, and I'm being told it doesn't
work as well as my free hotmail and yahoo account which
let's me look at any emails.
Could someone please tell me whether this is actually the
case, or is something that is changeable by a registry
entry just like Outlook restricted attachments was. Tag: SBS2003 Pricing Tag: 125101

Help - Do I Need To Re-Load
Appologies for posting this problem a second time, but
I'm on the verge of doing a complete re-load of the
Server, I would appreciate any comments as to whether I'm
doing the right thing.
The Problem - yesterday for no apparant reason the server
started to crawl whenever a connection to the internet
was made (56k dialup)
CPU usage was running at 100%, keyboard inputs to the
server took several mins to respond on screen. As soon as
web connection dropped, CPU usage returned to normal.
In the Apps log I have multiple entries showing Event ID
14079 associated with ISA with the following description
Description: Due to an unexpected error, the service
w3schdwn stopped responding to all requests. This
occurred 8 time(s) in the past 3:25 hours. Try to stop
the service or kill the corresponding process if it does
not respond, and start it again. Check the Event Viewer
for related error messages.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled ISA, but still have
the same problem.
I disabled exchange to make sure this wasn't affecting
things.
I've searched google, others have reported the same
problem, no one seems to have an answer.
I'm almost resigned to the fact that I'm going to have to
do a complete reload, (restoring exchange scares me a bit)
Am I doing the right thing, does anyone have any other
ideas, I really would appreciate any input.
Thanks ......... Andy Tag: SBS2003 Pricing Tag: 125096

DHCP not reusing IP addresses
My DHCP server isn't working the way I think it should.
I had problems getting a client on the network. The
problem turned out to be DHCP - it wasn't getting an IP
address. I checked the server and while it had several IP
addresses available, it wouldn't assign one to the new
client. I noticed that the most recently added client had
been assigned the highest available IP address, so I
increased the upper limit of available addresses. It
worked; the client was assigned the next IP address - one
above the previous limit. DHCP is working now, and slowly
marching toward the new upper limit without reassigning
lower, unused IP addresses.
How do I get it to reuse IP addresses? As it is, I will
eventually "run out" of addresses again.
