PowerChute Business Edition v6.1.1

Anyone having problems with DHCP clients - i.e. finding that when an ip
address changes for a client, PCBE loses track of the client?

Conflicting info from APCC - some say DHCP is not supported, others say it
is

Thanks

I don't see the connection between Powerchute and DHCP.
Your server(s) does(do) have a static IP, right?

I think Jann is talking about monitoring the workstations... right?

I have never set PowerChute to monitor workstations (mostly because I don't
care much) so I can't tell you if it is the DHCP deal or not. However, if
there are not too many workstations you could assign them static IPs or make
reservations in DHCP for them... this way you wouldn't have to worry about
IPs changing.

Thanks, yes - was about Workstations losing it

APC have now given me 6.2.2 (strangely not available via Live Update) and
I'll report back if that makes a difference

The software is not cheap, and so I can see no reason why it should lose
track of Clients due to DHCP, since it uses the 'blah.smallbusiness.local'
method to resolve them anyway, rather than simple IP.

(By the way, the reason for a few of the clients getting new ip addresses
is that the can be left unused for a while)
