It is possible to partition the harddrive into 2 logical drives from 1 after setup is complete or do I have to reinstall Server 2000 all over again? There is a small inactive partition (11GB) that was installed on setup. Is it possible to expand that one instead? The drive is 112GB. 100.6GB system (NTFS) and a 11.2GB non active basic. Thank you for your help

11 Gb for the systemdrive is big enough. You can move all the other
applications like Exchange, the Clientapps, the Users and Companyfolder to
another partition. Also the several logfiles can be moved.
If you want to expand the partition, you'll have to go with 3rd party
programs.

Aha Marina - but that's not what he said ;-)

The 11Gb might be big enough but his system partition is 100Gb - the 11.2Gb
is unused at present.

Certain people have said they would use certain partioning software [3rd
party] but from a personal point of view I'd always be wary of changing a
working setup. Why not use the 11Gb for something specific that wouldn't be
likely to go over this size threshold instead? You're certainly OK size-wise
with a 100Gb system partition!

Sure someone will have a more technically detailed and/or fully-thought-out
response but if you can use the 11Gb for something then why change something
if its working?

Regards,

David

Thanks you guys, but I found out that I will need to re-format and re-install 2000 server in order to get my minimum of at least 2 30GB partitions. No big deal, just trying to save time going through all the set-up and loading time. I had also received advice from several other sources recommending that I do not use 3rd partitioning software due to instability. I guess I'll have to suck it up and load server in myself in order to get it the way I want. Thanks for your help and input.
