server? I want to extend it as it is only 8 gb

While some have used Server Magic and been successful, it is neither
recommended or supported

What a brave brave brave man.
I would sooner consider extracting my own teeth with pliers. But good luck.
At the very least I would get a new drive. Mirror onto the new drive. Save
the old drive somewhere very safe and then experimebnt with the new drive.
that way if it goes pear shape you can always get back to where you were.

I'd look at it this way:

Most 3rd party partitioning software makes people 'in the know' (and I'm not
one of them) cringe. It seems any time I hear about somebody with a disk
problem its followed somewhere by "oh you used partition magic (or insert
your favorite app here) on it? well, you're probably hosed and its PM's
fault you're hosed" Personally I've used PM for years quite happily and
never had an issue, but those that do have issues usually don't have small
ones either. I have never used PM on a server, (nor would I personally) and
my use is very rare which may account for my low level of problems.

Right now, you're between a rock and a hard place, you're going to run out
of space on that C drive. So as I see it, you can do at least one of 2
things:

1. Backup, Format, Repartition, Reinstall, Restore, and Repair.
2. Backup, Try Partition Magic, if it works you're done and if not, see
option 1.

Even if option #2 works, you may have trouble down the road as PM (or SM)
isn't supported per Cris' note.

I'd be curious to know the type of disk system and existing partition
scheme, as a new drive and Ghost is a reasonably simple option if not using
RAID 5...

Mark,
First, you must use server magic, NOT partition magic. Now....for all
those wusses out there who cringe or don't use it, they are NOT consultants
in the real world. It is a MUST USE tool. I use it at least once a month
for the past 5 years. YOU MUST GHOST THE DRIVE PRIOR TO USE - just in case.
If you don't then you get the horror stories mentioned.
Second, what are your other options. A long and arduous Ghost process or
rebuild. If done correctly, no issues but there are many people afraid of
technology....don't be! Get a pro to do it then, but Server MAgic -works
GREAT if the person using it knows how.

Mark,

But you couldn't use Server Magic if you are in a RAID-5 config, could you?
What about other Raid scenarios?

Hi Kevin,

As long as it is real RAID-5 Hardware not Software the array just looks like
a HD to ServerMagic. It is not recreating the array, just modifiy the
partitions. It should not be an issue. Make sure you have a good image
before resizing any drive, jic
