Hi,
We have one employee who works from home. She has been
using POP3 to connect to our Exchange server for awhile.
Yesterday she said she can not open Outlook. When it
does, her CPU goes to 100% and everything locks up until
she does control/alt/delete. She ran a full virus scan
and it came up clean (after updating virus definitions).
Since the PC is at her home it is difficult to trouble
shoot. If she reboots her PC and doesn't open Outlook,
everything works fine. We logged into her Exchange
account via OWA and deleted most of the mail so it
shouldn't be trying to download tons of stuff. Not sure
what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

What version of OL (and SP level)?
What version of Office (and SP level)?

Suggestions...

1. Open OL with the Outlook.exe /cleanreminders switch

2. Recreate the OL profile on her machine.

3. OL2000 Update?

It is outlook 2000, I believe post sp3. When you mention
recreating the profile do you mean to right click on the
desktop icon, select properties and show profiles? (from
here it looks like you can copy profiles and set which
ones are called on startup etc)

I just want to make sure I am understanding what you mean.

Thanks

Merv meant recreate a profile, so don't copy it, but create a freshly new
profile.

The profile I was referring to was the Outlook mail profile.

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Mail if using Windows 2000. Delete
the existing profile and create a new one.

Reinstalling Outlook on the workstation may also provide a solution.
