Only got one user with this problem - they change the subject of an
appointment in Outlook (running in Cached Exchange mode) while
connected to the server. The calendar exists in Public Folders.

When they save & close the appointment, their change isn't reflected on
the main calendar view (one day per screen).

If you open the appointment up, their change shows correctly in the
subject line.

If you change folders, or close & restart Outlook, this situation
continues. Only by using the File > Work Offline option to take it
offline and then bring it back online does the change then update on
the main display.

On one occasion I did this, when it came back online and opened the
appointment, it actually said 'you have multiple versions of this
appointment - which do you want to keep, the current or previous
version?' I couldn't find this documented anywhere at the time, and
now cannot replicate that message.

However, all I really want is for items to update without any user
intervention!

Any ideas?

Cheers

The public calendar is probably in the user's Public Folder Favorites, and
the Favorites are probably caching by default. I've seen some weird similar
behavior here, including that it can take an hour or more for a PF entry to
update. You could see if pressing F9 to sync the mailbox will update the
appointment faster. Take the folder out of the Favorites so the user is
working "live." Or quit using Cached Exchange Mode, which IMO is of minimal
value in our small networks.

Please note that if you don't want to use Cached Mode, you can still sync
the mailbox to be available off line. That way, you'll have the data
available if your server is unavailable (including the PF Favorites if you
configure it that way). But instead of working from the cache, it'll just
sync manually or when the user shuts down Outlook.

Dave

Thanks for replying - the issue was the Favourites (sic) entry, as I
have now removed that and appointments are updating immediately.
