Have a clinet who needs to move back from Outlook2003 to Outlook2002
But we're having problems importing the 2003 PST files into 2002
I get an error that the personal folders aren't compatible with this
version.
I've checked MS but can't match the error.
I could try using access as a transfer route but would prefer a swifter
solution.
Thanks

Pat,

Is this user on an SBS2000/2003 server? If so, are they using Exchange? if
so, there should be no reason to have to PST any files, as everything is
stored on Exchange, if properly configured. What about creating a public
folder for the user, and moving the contents of the folder you wish to back
up to there, then uninstall and reinstall Outlook.

BTW, what's the problem with Outlook 2003?

If PST files must be used, and the public folder idea above don't work,
there should be an option in Outlook 2003 to export selecting an earlier
Outlook compatibilty type which can then be imported into 2002.

The machine was a standalone unit using dial up to retreave e-mails. The
client now wants the machine to come into the domain and be compatible with
their current outllook 2002 setup.
So the original machine had no exchange connection so everything was stored
in a PST file.
I've looked at the Outllook 2003 export options and there are no
compatability choices. it just does what it does.

Try, In Outlook 2003 File>New>Outlook Data File. You should be able to
create a specific .pst file format there, then copy the various existing
mailbox folders into it.
