    - Brightmail Authentication Problem I have installed Brightmail AntiSpam on a SBS 2000 server running exchange and ISA. For some reason I am unable to activate the product through their registration wizard. I am able to connect to the internet OK and all seems alright but it just won't work. Brightmail support have checked the installation logs and everything installed ok and they say will work as soon as registered properly. I am able to browse to their secure site ok and they and I are confused as to why I am unable to contact the Brightmail registration server. There is some sort of proxy server setting (I don't know why I would need it anyway) which call for a username and password. When I enter the administrator name and administrator I am refused access to the internet! Not sure what's happening here either. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?     - error 14120 web proxy error My event log includes several instances of the above error each day. I have read a previous discussion about this error but became totally confused. I only have one NIC and I wondered if anyone could tell me where to find the Local Address Table or the Windows 2000 routing table and how I would go about amending them. Help just makes it worse - if I type in Local Address table I get a long list of apparantly unrelated references - nowhere does it tell me what the LAT is or where to find it !     - BSOD POWER EDGE SERVER SBS 2000 I am not sure if this is the correct group to be addressing. If it is not please point me in the right direction. I have a Dell poweredge 2500 server running sbs 2000. I rebooted it last month after swapping the battery in our APC. Now every time it reboots I get the BSOD with an inaccesible boot device error. Now here is the puzzling part, If i run chkdsk it takes about an hour says it has fixed errors on the drive and lets me boot into sbs but if i then reboot the system i get the BSOD again!.     - Problem Logging into the Domain on a Notebook Hello, SBS2K, WinXP Pro notebook. I am having trouble logging into the domain from a notebook. When I try to log in normally to the domain using either the Administrative account, or a users account that was always using the notebook (and also a local admin for the notebook), I receive the following message: "Windows cannot connect to the domain, either because the domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable, or because your computer account was not found." Also, if I try to log into the local computer, as opposed to the domain, with either the administrative account or a user account, both members of the local Administrators group, I receive the following message: "The system could not log you on. Make sure your username and domain are correct, then type your password. Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct case." The strangest part of all this is that if I turn off the wireless card and unplug the network cable then try to log into the domain using the Administrator account, I can successfully log in. Then, I can reconnect the cable and work normally. Since one of the messages I received mentioned the computer not being found in the domain, I went ahead and changed the computer domain after logging in in the manner I just described. After I did that and rebooted, I checked Active Directory, and saw the newly created computer. When I tried to log back in though, I received the same message as before. Now, I have no idea what to do to fix this. I haven't seen this problem before. Any ideas would be appreciated. If there is any more relevant info I haven't provided, I would be happy to do so.     - Can't Send/Receive From OWA I'm running SBS 2003 on our server and Office Outlook 2003 on a remote machine that has WinXP Media Edition for the OS. When using Outlook Web Access from Remote Web Workplace or directly via https://serverIP/exchange I can see, read & delete emails but cannot send or receive them. Emails I send end up in the Administrator's mailbox with the sender's name showing as myname@mydomain.local. Haven't been able to find a solution to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - SBS Pop3 Service and Outlook Express Hello Everyone, Another baffling glitch! A client who travels a lot can't VPN to the server, and doesn't like OWA. When I tried to connect outlook express to collect POP3 mail from the SBS 2000 server, I get prompted for user name and password. No matter what combination I try, nothing will work. Just keeps prompting for user name and password. I even took the notebook into the client's office and plugged it into the LAN with a cable. After changing all the settings so it knows where the server is, it pings the server but still is challenged for a user name and password when attempting to pop for the mail.     - Using the Wizard for RAS While the wizard the RAS errors out and fails to comlete. Below is part of the log that is generated during the setup. These are the only two issue I recieve in the log.     - Trouble with sbs2k in Terminal Server app mode. I migrated an SBS 2000 server to a new SBS 2003 server. That was mostly smooth and easy. I then reformated the old SBS 2000 server and reinstalled the 2000 OS and then STOPPED before installing the SBS components. At that point I made the server a member server of the 2003 domain set up Terminal Services for application mode, installed my applications, set my policies, etc, and then let users go nuts. I did not install any licenses since all the clients are using XP PRO and should supposedly be issued a free license. This worked GREAT for a couple of months, then all of a sudden we are getting the can't issue a license error (The remote computer disconnected the session because of an error in the licensing protocol). Before you post that I should delete the MSLicensing key on the clients, let me say that that doesn't work. It's irritating because it worked for a long time, then just quit.     - Crazy Firewall/Email Problem I have a user that is using Outlook (Office XP version) and cannot send email through an external Internet email server. He is using the same settings as everyone else on the network and they are all working. His email account settings are ok and he can log in to his email via a web browser. I took his settings to a computer that was working but after I put his account on their computer now that user is failing (drat!). The one clue I have found is in the 'Small Business Server Administrator Console', (yes they are configured to go through ISA server). For the users that fail they show no User and their Client Computer is listed as an ip Address rather than a machine name such as WKSTN12. Help!!! Tag: Outlook Web Access Tag: 172514

    - IS Stopped Hi Running W2K SBS - all patched up - with Exchange 2000 (again all pathced up.) The IS store stopped today. I restarted it without problem. However I cannot find any reason why it should stop. Belwo are the reactive event log errors - but apart form that I am at a loss as to where to begin troublehsooting this. Badmail folder did not have anything in it apart from a few messages from hours earlier that day. Any ideas please?     - Accessing POP3 mail remotely I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to pull mail in from our SBS 2000 Exchange server. I created a new account in Outlook Express for POP3 and use our external IP numbers for the POP3 & SMTP servers. When I try to access it I get the following message: The server responded with an error. Account: 'XX.XXX.XX.XXX', Server: 'XX.XXX.XX.XXX', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90 I have a port open on the Watchguard firewall for POP3 mail.     - Remote access and ISA Hi everyone, I have recently taken over a site running SBS 2000 but with no ISA installed. Their current network config is Netgear ADSL modem/firewall/router -> switch-> server + clients. They currently have direct access from home to their work desktops using remote desktop. This enables them to work from home as though sitting at work or download work files to home for offline use. They can also view mail by loading outlook whilst looged on. Several laptop users have a b/band dialup to a shared workstation where all laptop users have accounts. They can open Outlook and gain access to all files they usually have access to. As they have several staff who operate overseas hey now really have a need for remote OWA via a web access. I would be very grateful for any advice on to how to achieve these requirements and whether installing ISA, with the necessary reconfiguring to the 2 nic scenario, would be an improvement in terms of firewall security to their network.     - Use seperate SMTP Servers I have an SBS2K server I am supporting. Is it possible for me to assign an OU or a group of users to use a differnt SMTP server to send email through Exchange? The current SMTP server is adding a disclaimer message to all outgoing email. Now I need some users to be able to send mail without the disclaimer message.     - OT: Data Replication Software Hi all, I was wondering if anyone here has used data replication software at all. The problem that I have is that I wish to have data at a remote office stored at the head office. Terminal Services won't work in this situation due to the nature of the work they do [CAD mainly] I would like to have real time replication as this possible through the hardware VPN that we have running.     - Event ID: 5501 I get constant errors in the DNS Server Log for Event ID: 5501. Event 5501 Source: DNS Type: Warning Description: DNS Server encountered bad packet from IP Address. Packet processing leads beyond packet length. The IP address listed in the event appears to be that of a prior ISP that was being used in the past so I assume it is somewhere on the server.     - Browsing website on own network I have a SBS 2000 domain setup. There is DSL and a Watchguard firewall. I also have a external host for my website. From anywhere on my network, I cannot access http://mydomainname.com. It says page cannot be displayed. Anywhere off the network I can access it. Does anyone know why this happening?     - CALs Between SBS 2000 and Windows Server 2003 - IIS Hello Hope someone can help me on this. I have one SBS 2000 as a DC and one Win Server 2003 machine with IIS as standalone but part of the domain. I want employees to access the IIS machine from home, via web browser to get to IIS. This is not a public web server. How do I license this? I have 25 CAL's for SBS and the 5 CALs that come with 2003. Currently the 25 CAL's are reaching capacity. Would I need to buy more CALs for SBS2000 or is the 5 CALs that 2003 be sufficient enough? Only a few employees at a time are planning on using IIS at a time.     - I need to Add 2003 SBS Cal's to 2000 SBS I purchased 10 Cal's for 2003 SBS, I was told these were downgradable to 2000 SBS. I go into the SBS administrator console to add CALS, but it tells me to run the A:\Setup.exe to install additional CALS. I can't go directly into the licensing control panel because it tells me to go into the SBS admin console. I would run A:\Setup.exe, but I ordered licensing from microsoft and I only recieved the CAL Codes, no executables. The server has 40 licenses, but everyday I need to shut the server down because clients are started to get locked out while working. I'd like to be able to access the shared data on the W2K3 shares(it is all music and video) from within the secure network(10.10.0.xxx) I'd like to PREVENT the 192.168.0.xxx segment from accessing the secure network.     - OT: GPO I want to be able to control user desktops etc. Does anyone have a dummies guide on how to do this? I tried to do this by adding an another OU and placing the users that I want and created a gpo. They don't seem to apply. I think that the gpo sbs creates in root domain.local overrides this as when I make changes in this one they apply although they apply to all users including the administrator which I don't want.     - Raid- adding new drives Hi, We have a IBM eServer 232 SBS2000 box with a ServeRAID 4Lx U160 SCSI controller and 3*18Gb drives set up as RAID 5. It has 6 hot plug hard drive slots on the front of the server. I would like to add another RAID array to add more space to the server (mostly so I can increase the users mailboxes). Is it possible to just add 3 more drives to the SCSI hotplug backplane (I think alll 6 SCSI drive spaces are connected to the same SCSI cable leading to the RAID card) and then simply add the new array using the ServeRAID manager?     - Win 2k Server upgrade help needed... Hi, I had to change our server hard drive as it was failing and in doing so I needed to re-install Windows server 2000. We have 6 XP pc running off the main domain that is run by the win 2K server. After swapping the drives and starting to run the new install of win server using the same domain name I started to get some problems. At first everyone could log on to the network but after an update on the server, "windows up date" no one could see the domain. The only way I found was to take the PC off the domain and set them to a workgroup and the re-set them up to the domain. This has taken hours to do and you can's copy the user info over as there is a file in one of the folders that changes and if I do copy the old user folder over windows makes a new one on log-in. So I end up having to copy file by folder, very slow and a right pain. Also I still can't get one of the PC's to see the domain at all. I can see the server if I use \\server but when I try and join the domain it just can't see it. Where is the file that sets up the domain list and settings, maybe I can just hand code it in or something? Also is there any way to clear the domains cash?     - Boot disk for PE2800 Anyone successfully created a boot floppy for a Dell PowerEdge 2800 with the onboard PERC 4e/Di? I can't seem to find the DOS drivers on the Dell website. It seems like I should be able to pull them from the Dell "Installation and Server Management" bootable CD if I knew what I was looking for. My initial and ultimate goal is to ghost (offline) my (RAID5) SBS2K OS partition to an external USB HDD, but I'm having trouble creating a (DOS) boot disk that can access the array or my external USB drive. If I can get the array accessible, I think maybe I can ghost the image to another SCSI drive (on the second controller channel) in the box and then later copy it to my USB HDD once I'm in Windows. We have an SBS 2K server configured with two NIC's and are
using OWA. However we can only access OWA remotely by first
setting up a VPN connection to authenticate to the server
and then running http://192.168.16.2/exchange where we have
to authenticate a second time to open the mailbox. My
understanding of OWA was to connect to the public IP
address of the server. When we try to do this we just get a
time out error. Can anyone please help me with this problem.
