One User Multiple Mailboxes
Peoples,
I have a user who needs to have access to another mailbox. For example their
current email address is joe@domain.com I also need to be able to give them
access to a mailbox called accountsdept@domain.com so that they can send and
receive email on this address as well.
How do I go about doing this without creating an accountsdept user account?
Or as an alternative do I need to create an accountsdept user account and if
so how do I give the user Joe access to the accountsdept mailbox so that
they can send and receive email as the accountsdept user as well.
With many thanks.

Microsoft-WebDAV-MiniRedir/5.1.2600
Hi,
Discovered another thing last night that concerns me a bit. I was looking
through my ISA logs and I found lots of entries containing the line
"Microsoft-WebDAV-MiniRedir/5.1.2600".
Can someone give me an indication as to whether I should be panicking now?
I have ISA blocking port 80 but I got a shock when I discovered that IIS was
running on the SBS box (a result of some internal OWA testing I think).
Anyway, all these entries contain the SBS box internal IP or the IP of
another internal box on the LAN.
So...is this just something happening internally? or am I being pinged? or
have I been hacked? Tag: Open Relay Tag: 115215

Hi,
Had a power outage today and the ups shutdown the server

Well I power down again and it comes up with the same

No SBS 2000 disks provided
The people (who shall remain nameless)who originally
installed our SBS 2000 network did not provide the

Is this a normal practice for Microsoft certified partners?
A friend who also runs SBS 2000 has the disks, but they

Address book for shared fax on Windows 2000 Server
Help! What am I missing?
I created a contacts folder in Public Folders, set the permissions
accordingly, had each user set Outlook to see it as an "Outlook
Address Book". Now Outlook and Shared Fax can use this address book -
great - but on our XP machines only.
On the server itself however (W2K Server), neither Outlook nor Shared
Fax can see it as an address book. When I click "Address Book" in
Shared Fax, I get Global Address List, All Address Lists, All
Contacts, All Groups, All Users, and Public Folders. Not even my
normal mailbox Exchange contacts show up. How on Earth can I get this
contacts folder to show up in Shared Fax?
I even checked that IE is using Outlook for email (another setting I
saw in a post here). Tag: Open Relay Tag: 115197

XP and Win2k clients cannot logon to the domain
Hi all!
At a customer site I have three computers that can't logon to the SBS
domain. It is two Win XP Pro and on Win 2000 that can't logon. There's
also three other Win XP Pro clients and a bunch of Win 98 clients that
work as normal. The affected computers hangs at either the Applying
personal settings or just a blue screen with the mouse pointer on. The
problem occured this morning, previously there haven't been any
problems.
The server is just a week and a half old, and the onl thing I changed
yesterday was to add the WINS-server in the DHCP-server broadcast to
speed up the connection on the XP-clients. Of course I have tried to
remove that entry, but that didn't help at all
All computers have their IP-address via DHCP, and I have verified that
they get the right DNS-settings, WINS-server, Netbios and so on. There
are no strange entries in the event logs and I have removed the
computers from the domain and added them under another name, tried
different user accounts and so on. Logging on to the local machine is
possible and then you can connect to the shared resources on the
server.
Do anyone have any suggestions to what to try next, I don't want
reformat the computers.
Thanks in advance

XP Client logon over Linksys VPN slow or fails entirely
We have recently tried to add a remote location to our HQ small
business 2000 networkusing an IPsec VPN tunnel. The remote location
has a win2k server running as a domain controller also. We want to add
them in order to use exchange, shared folders, and control web access
using a product called surfcontrol.
We set up both the remote and hq locations with 128k "fixed IP" dsl
lines and Linksys befsx41 router/firewalls. A VPN was established
between the two routers. I can ping between them with no problem using
local lan IP addresses. I can ping the machine name of the sbs server
from the remote location.
We added an xp client from the remote to the HQ domain. Although the
process took quite a while it semed to work OK. However the login
process takes a long time (10-20 minutes) and about 50% of the time
when its done we can't access the server. During this long login
process, there does not seem to be much traffic over the VPN nor is
the perf monitor showing much in the way of system activity on either
the client or the server. It just seems to be waiting for something
that sometimes never happens.
We took the same xp client that exhibited this behavior to the hq
location, put it on the LAN, and it logs in and works OK.
There are no user error messages displayed when this happens. Event
viewer has a few messages about services not being able to find a
domain controller. The only thing I can find differently about the VPN
connection is that we can not send as many bytes in a ping packet as
we can on the local lan whithout getting a timeout. 45 bytes less
works OK. I assume that is for IPSec info or something. Is this our
problem? Any ideas? Tag: Open Relay Tag: 115078

SBS2K Slower than it should be
I just setup a new SBS setup with only 3 clients setup so far. Fast SCSI
drives, fast gigabit nics, 39160 adaptec ard.. Built it. Very fast
workstation but slow over the network. Well, it should be faster for what is
has. It is SBS2000, SP1 installed. ISA Server is on. All the duplex
settings match. Internet access is fast though. It is just copying files
over. I don't even have my antivirus installed yet. It is a XEON 2.8.
I have older Pentiums that are just as fast and don't have the fast scsi
drives.
Is there a way to improve performance on the server. I remember a way of
setting the server that it should be a certain way depending on how it is
used but I don't remember where that setting is. I remember using the
setting back when SBS 2K first come out. This server is primarily a
print/file server, ISA, Exchange. Where is that setting? I am having a brain

How do I Troubleshoot Problems?
Hello all,
I have almost completed a move of my Small Business Server 2000 installation
to a nice new machine, but I am having a little trouble with Exchange Server
part of it. I have setup the software suite, added the users to A.D.,
ExMerge'd the old mailboxes and ExMerge'd them onto the new server,
connected the clients and verified they can login and see their old mail.
The bit I am having trouble with is what I think is referred to as
'transport'. When I send messages (to other clients) I get nothing; no
NDR's, no event log messages and certainly no mail on the receiving end. I
am running the old server which worked fine for a couple of years, all be it
slowly, along side (but not connected) and I have replicated the settings
from the old to the new, but still nothing! I would like some advise on how
to identify the point at which the system is failing. Is there a way of
having Exchange log activity in the way other programs or services do into
event viewer complete with event id's to find solutions from?
Any ideas gratefully received.

James

Problems in accessing news sites; external ftp and AvantGo
I have SBS2000 installed and around 10 workstations all running W2kpro or
XPpro. The server uses the default configuration for IIS and ISA (except
that I have enabled OWA and had to do some specific stuff to enable that -
following the MS knowledgebase instructions). The network is all private
addresses accessing sharing a single public IP address.
Until around two weeks ago I (as the administrator) could access newsgroups
(like I am now - but I am doing this from home), upload stuff to my company
website (hosted by the ISP) via ftp and sychronise my Sony Clie using
AvantGo. Here are the problems:
a) My assistant (who has administrator priviliges on the system) has
never been able to upload pages to the website via ftp. She gets a proxy
error every time from her machine (running XPpro) but can connect and upload
from a different machine;
b) I cannot now connect to newsgroups. Outlook Express reports that the
news server is unreachable);
c) AvantGo also times out with a proxy error - it previously
d) Realplayer (both 8 and One) report proxy errors - so, for instance, I
can't now access the live radio feed from the BBC website.
With the exception of a), I could do all these things 2 weeks ago.
I have no policies which block this traffic. I haven't changed anything I am
aware of. All the protocol and filter rules seem to be in place and active
and the applications filters are set to allow ftp and streaming media. I
can't see anything in place to stop this traffic yet it will not pass.
I can't find anything on the MS site to help me. I've got Tom Shindler's
book (and I've looked on the website). Neither describe the problem or,
therefore, offer any remedies. Now, I'm assuming this is probably an ISA
server problem - because of the frequent 'proxy server' error messages. I
might be wrong. Has anybody any thoughts which might help?
