Hello

In the TrendMicro Officescan Server Console/Client Admin there is the
option ot Scan Now - this notifies clients re manual scan ... what
does this mean?! We seem to have to them go to each machine and carry
out a scan. Should each client get a message to carry out a scan?

Cheers

Geoff

I think I am partly (if not completely!) wrong here..checking the
client status it looks as if a scan has been performed this morning
following my scan now action on the clients but

1. ths scan seems to have taken 32 seconds - so what has been scanned?
certainly not the whole disk - WINNT folder?

2. the status client has

Started Thurs Feb 12 2004 08.18.41
Last shutdown Feb 12 2004 08.18.09
Last scheduled scan (no entry)
Last real time scan (no entry)

am I right - the scan took 18.41 - 18.09 seconds?
what does shutdown refer to?
Why no value for the last two?

appreciate any help!

Cheers

Geoff

If you expand Client Administration on the left and then expand Set Scan
Options you can click on manual scan to see what it is currently configured
to scan. You can also select Scheduled Scan to configure all your clients to
run a scan at a set time and day.

thanks for that - what do you think of following

scan boot area - yes
scan compressed files - up to 2 levels
use Intelliscan - all essential file types
scan action - autoclean - backup files
uncleanable - quarantine

1. I could scan all files but than would take a long time? or go for
the list of files by extensions?

2. Do you think it would be better to delete rather than autoclean/no
need to backup and delete tather than quarantine?

Any thoughts?!

Cheers

Those settings are pretty standard. I would go with them.
I would suggest autoclean rather than delete to avoid problems with system
files being infected.

I would also suggest that Real-Time scan should be enabled (with the default
settings). This will protect your clients as your users work and open files.
V. good.

I would lastly suggest a scheduled scan, checking all files at a time when
no users are on the network but your PCs are on. For example over the
weekend.

And Finally ... make sure you set up a schedule for deploying AV definitions
to the Clients on a regular (daily) basis.
