This NNTPSVC has two entries each hour. One say's "0" posts, the
other "0" received.

What is this and can this service be turned off if not used?

This is the Network News Protocol. You can set it to startup manually, do
not disable it. Reboot the server and you will no longer see those messages.

In Exchange I stoped this service. I did not see a selection for start type.
