Hello All (again)

I don't seem to be doing too well on this VPN business

Thanks to Andy and Chad for their help in spotting the router as the cause
of my problem.

The firmware has been upgraded and I can now log in and be authenticated.

Unfortunately now that I am in I can't do too much.

My SBS server is called 'eppserver' and the domain is 'epp'

I have tried \\eppserver\ through my browser but its not accessible

If I ping my server IP I get a timed out

I can ping 'EPP.local' and get a reply

I can ping my server nic IP of 10.0.0.2 and get a reply

Not sure where to go from here. Any help appreciated.

Does my remote client PC need to have its name registered on the SBS
network?

Cheers, David

try putting a host entry in (windows\system32
\drivers\etc\hosts ) put your server in there with its ip.
Also check your vpn conenction properties - tcpip
properties and put your server ip in as your WINS server -
this helped when i had a similair problem,

Thanks Sam for that! I can now access my email through IE with
//servername//exchange. Cant get any shared folders though yet.
Thanks for the link Chad - but don't feel like a happy bunny at the thought
of sticking my paws in the registry.
I need to upload win2000 sp4 will that cure the problem for me (please say
yes, please say yes)
Cheers, David

Hi David -

SP3 (and later) includes the hotfix - but it doesn't make the registry
edits. It's safe - I've made those entries on many a server and never had
an issue . . .
