I have a server w/SBS 200 and 4 NICS. When I first
installed I only had one connection. I have since created
a server room and I can now hook up all my NICS. I don't
fully understand the concept behind multiple NICS. Could
someone please explain the reason for multiple NICS and
how they can be setup.

First I would be curious as to why you need four network cards an an SBS
server.. that would be 1 nic per ~16 client machines and assuming 1 is
being used to connect to the Internet.. The biggest thing is that you will
want your internal nic to be first in the binding order (Properties of My
Network Places/Advanced/Advanced Settings menu). You will also need to make
sure that they are on different subnets.

Hope that helps,

I'm not an expert here but...

2NICs are required to use ISA in firewall mode. This separates your internal
lan from your external lan... just like any other firewall (but far more
customizable). The other two NICs could be used for adapter teaming (if they
support this function) in order to increase the throughput of your internal
connection... this requieres as switch that's capable of such function. In
this mode the 3 internal NICs will be acting as one. Additionaly, I have
seen here that other cards could be used to attach servers (such as a
webserver) published in ISA... I'm not too familiar with that setup, but my
guess is that the goal relies on not having such traffic going thru your
internal network (but I honestly don't know). Another option is to activate
only 2 NICs (Internal/External) and leave the rest disabled.

Is that what you asked?
