Dear NG,

Here is my situation, we currently have one single Windows 2000 small
business server which is a obviously a DC as well as running Exchange, we
want to change to a new box and at the same time move away from SBS, we
purchased Windows 2003 Std as well as Exchange 2003 Std which we'll load up
on the new server which will also be a single box for DC and exchange but
not SBS, so the question is how do I move everything over including users,
computer accounts, permissions, mailboxes etc., I've moved to new hardware
before without a problem, there are actually several great docs detailing
this procedure but that didn't involve SBS, I couldn't find anything on
moving from SBS to a regular domain, i did find this kb article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;555073 but the title
is misleading because its only discussing move SBS to SBS.

thanks

See Swing Migration SBSMigration.com The small fee Jeff charges for this kit
more than pays for the time saved in migration because you simply plug the
WS's into the new network with virtually no down time and no touching the WS
profiles. BTW why are you moving from SBS?

If it's not too late, you might want to look at the Transition Pack - it
allows you to convert SBS into it's separate server components, but gives
you a price break on what you've invested in already - it should be cheaper
than just buying new servers and new CAL's. The procedure for using the
Transition Pack is also fairly well documented and familiar to many in the
newsgroups.

Actually yes, you apply it inplace, but then allows you to break apps to =
separate servers.

However the transistion pack for SBS 2000 is no longer available.

both Frank and I are interested in the motivatio for your move away from
SBS.

and as has been indicated elsewhere, I think that upgrading your existing
system (possibly using Swing it!, maybe not) to SBS 2003 and then applying
the 'Transition Pack' to it would have been a more appropriate path.
