Hi

I would appreciate some assistance on the best way to moving an existing SBS
2000 server to new hardware.

The client has approx 30 PCs, one SBS 2000 server and two Windows 2000
Servers

If possible we do not want to change the domain name, ideally switch off old
server, install and switch on new server with no changes to existing W2K
servers or
clients.

SBS2000 server is mainly used for Exchange and as its a Pentium III 650
needs
an upgrade!

Just my $0.02 (US):

Does the client have Software Assurance on his SBS 2000 and CALs? If so,
you may want to take this opportunity to upgrade the client to SBS 2003.
If the Win2K servers are not Terminal Servers, this shouldn't present a
major challenge. If one or more of the Win2K servers is a TS, things may
get more complicated.

If you migrate to SBS 2003, MS has some documents to assist in the upgrade:

Migrating from Small Business Server 2000 or Windows 2000 Server to Windows
Small Business Server 2003
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=fa187d1e-8218-4501-
9729-222bd8ebb64c&DisplayLang=en

Unfortunately, you'll end up with a new server with a different name and
different (internal) domain name. However, there are some tools to help
migrate Win2K Pro/WinXP Pro user profiles and manage the Exchange migration.

Otherwise:

An SBS 2000 migration-to-new-hardware scheme without upgrading to SBS 2003
(may require access to a plain vanilla copy of Windows 2000 server and old
SBS Win2K/WinXP profiles will not migrate due to SID change)...

Maybe some general information...

There is no "all inclusive" document that I've found for migratiing SBS 2000
to new hardware.
