We run microsoft shared fax on our SBS 2000 server. Every so often, a fax
will come in and the fax machine hangs on it. There is a folder on the
server, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Shared Fax\Queue, that shows a file in the queue but the size
is 0 kb. Every time this happens, if another fax comes in the fax service
on the server won't pick up the fax. If I try restart the service, it will
stop it but it won't restart it. Our only remedy is to reboot the server.

Any suggestions?

Sadly the only answer I can give is that if you need reliable and robust
Fax sharing in SBS then purchase a 3rd party Fax solution like Winfax,
GFI Faxmaker, Rightfax or one of the others. - Also use something like a
Brooktrout Fax board.
