What hope is there of running SBS2003 on machine with
128MB of memory?

Machine will basically be a file server for 2 users and
host a small web site (not using IIS).

Will not run Exchange or SQL.

Will the install process halt when it only sees 128MB?

never tried it on 128mb.

ms MINIMUM server spec for sbs 2003 is 300mhz processor, 256mb ram, 4gb
disk. I wouldnt try anything less that this, and by experiance the minimum
spec is virtually unuseable.
way tooooo slowwwwww.

If that's all you are using it for, why in the world are you not either
using std Windows server OS or Linux?

Nooooo....run away, run far away. If it's worth having a server, it's worth
having decent kit to run it on, even for two users. 128MB is barely enough
for a workstation OS these days, let alone a server OS or SBS ......

Well, that's very true. I'm upping several of my heavy graphics or multi
application users to 1GB of workstation memory. They're constantly swapping
out at 512MB.

yes, Win98 runs well in 128MB. It doesn't matter how much more you throw at
it it probably won't run much better.

I recommend 512 for XP but will accept 256 at a pinch.

Sheesh, 128 for an NT4 server (vanilla) was slightly more than 'adequate'.

If you were to ask me to install your SBS onto a PC with 128MB of RAM I
couldn't guarantee I could do it and the first thing I would suggest is that
the additional money you are going to pay me for watching the install
progress at a snail's pace would be better spent elsewhere (ie. another
couple of sticks of RAM)

Some VirtualPC info:
Installing SBS2000 onto a VPC with 256MB RAM takes a lot more time than when
you allocate ~500.
Installing SBS2003 onto a VPC with 400MB RAM takes days.
