I'm fairly new to SBS2000. I have our mail coming to us from a pop3 server
at Demon (a UK ISP). I would like to move to SMTP but I'm not sure what's
needed to do this? Can anyone advise me?

Mail by SMTP or by Pop3: which is best? by Phil

If you are the business ADSL tariff with Demon (now=20
around =A340 a mth) this includes being able to access mail=20
by smtp. If you are on the basic Demon ADSL (=A325 a mth)=20
then only pop3 is available. To get mail by smtp run the=20
ICW in ISA.

Phil

I assume you mean host your own mail? POP and SMTP are protocols for
checking mail and sending/receiving mail, respectively...

You need:

1. A Fully Qualified Domain Name, something like www.smallbizserver.net
2. A static IP address, if you don't have one ask your ISP
3. MX (Mail eXchange) record needs to point to your static IP address.

If you have the above run the ICW and answer the questions; very easy.
