hy everyone,

from what i have read in previuos posts, its not possible to create a
gateway to gateway VPN configuration with one gateway being an ISA Server
and the other gateway being the Linksys device.

however since i only need one workstaion to connect to the other end i was
thinking of getting another linksys device establish the tunnel between
these two linksys devices, and place the pc on the DMZz, thus by passing isa
altogether.

the workstation would have the linksys as it´s default gateway.

is this possible?

The linksys stinks at being a remote VPN. Even the VPN one only allows 2.
IMHO, Using linksys as a gateway to gateway is a waste of time. As far as
connecting one client it does fine in allowing you to VPN (with a
connectoid) to the server. Any more than that and your asking for trouble.

I

Avoid the hastle with gateway to gateway, Since you only have one person to
connect from the remote office, just create a vpn connection to the server
and let them pass through the linksys devices. This will work fine.

hi Craig,

thanks for replying. Our Trouble is that the remote server is a linux box!!.

so microsoft pc will not be able at the other end.

we are using two linksys to create the ipsec tunnel and afterwards the pc
client will will use a terminal client to control the linux box.

i woul d love to use another isa box at the other end, but it´s not
possible...

thanks

Then the only other alternative using the Linksys boxes would be to put the
Linksys inside the lan in the main office and block all ports, if possible.
But this may open up a whole new set of issues especially with security at
the main office if you cannot block incoming ports on the unit.

You may want to go with a SOHO or something similar.
