Count how many unique devices have ever accessed & authenticated with your
server, subtract the number of one-time CAL transfers you used, and that's
the number of licenses that are in use.
SBS2k licensing is per device - not per concurrent connection. Once a
device authenticates with your server and accesses LAN resources, it
consumes a CAL, and retains that CAL indefinitely. We are granted the right
to transfer a given CAL once (and only once) to another device.
However, SBS does not have the ability to track this license model and in
fact only counts concurrent connections. So, to get an idea of how many
licenses are in use (as far as what the SBS counts) - go into Computer
Management on your server, expand Shared Folders and select Sessions. Count
the number of unique devices listed in the active sessions and that's really
close to how many CALs your SBS thinks you're using at the moment . . .
