Dear all,

I have SBS2000 with 30 user, 2 of the users want to use their laptop in the
office but after office hour they like to use the laptop at home aswell.
Can I know the best practice or option for them pls?
If I add a them in to the server then, How can them use the laptop at home
with single profile?

Pls help
Regards
Anver

As long as the laptops are running Windows 2000 or XP Professional, I would
join them to the office domain. When the users are not connected, Windows
2000 or XP Pro will let them log in to their normal profiles using "cached
credentials" even though they are not connected to the office network.

and, if you have a different set of network connection or configuration at
home vs work, look into a product like multi network manager.

And further to Kevin's remarks, remember that you can always set up an
alternative network configuration in the properties of your Internet
Protocol. We have users who successfully log off our office network and take
their laptops to their home networks with no problems but they did have to
be shown how to manually change the firewall client and the right box to
click for IE.

Dear all,
Thanks for the response, Can I do some thing like this - When they are at
Office let then join to the domain but for home create a separate user and
password on the laptop and keep the same profile for both user - is there a
way like this or it is a stupid idea(please excuse me)

pls advise

Well, it all depends on what they want to do with the laptop at home. But it
certainly isn't necessary - and may be more confusing to the user.

Again, that's why I suggested the MultiNetwork Manager - as it allows you to
define different network scenarios.

You can do it, but I would never do it. There's no need.
