Unlike SBS2003 where some very specific patches were created for both =
the SBS 2003 server and Vista machines joining those domains, nothing is =
available (nor will anything be coming) provide compatibility between =
Vista and SBS 2000.
You may have to try the restore on Vista in Safe Mode and I would logon =
to the Vista Machine as the Local Administrator account.

I setup RADIUS on the SBS2K server and changed the WiFi encryption =
from=20
WEP to WAP using RADIUS. A Windows XP laptop seemed to work fine with =
it.
I then plugged a network cable into a stable Vista laptop, joined the=20
domain, then configured the WiFi on the laptop to match the router's=20
settings. After doing that, I unplugged the Ethernet cable, logged =
out,=20
and logged back in on the Vista laptop.
During that process, I added a domain group (which includes the =
laptop's=20
user) as a member of the local administrators group on the laptop - =
just=20
as I do on the WinXP machines.
I'm now getting all sorts of wild and crazy error messages on the =
Vista=20
laptop, most apparently have something to do with=20
ownership/security/permissions on files and folders.
I tried to manually add the domain user to the file and folder=20
permissions (full control). In vain.
I tried to run a System Restore on the laptop to the day prior to all=20
this. It ran, then upon rebooting, it said that the System Restore=20
failed to complete successfully. I then dis-joined the laptop from =
the=20
domain (put the laptop back to using a workgroup). I also reverted =
the=20
security settings on the router and the laptop's WiFi connection. =
Then=20
I tried to run the System Restore again. The same error again.
Has anyone had any similar issues with Windows Vista? Any suggestions =
(besides throwing the laptop out a window on the 14th floor)?
Thanks.
Fred
P.S.: I've gotten budget approval for a complete upgrade - New O/S,=20
CAL's to go with the new O/S, and a new server to run it all on. The=20
catch - it is slated for just after SBS2008 hits the shelves. Until=20
then, SBS2K is my cross to bear.
